We bid farewell to Charles Alfred Matthiesen, husband and father, who departed from this world on August 29, 2024 at the age of 92.
Born to Carsten and Anna Matthiesen on October 10, 1931. He lived almost his entire life in the Silvana/Arlington area. He was first a farmer milking cows, a logger, and then for 40 years he was a building contractor, owning his own business, Matthiesen Cabinets and Construction until he retired.
Surrounded by his loving family and holding hands with Nancy, his wife of 74 years, he passed peacefully. A pillar of strength, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. His sense of humor, his passion for boating activities and for sports, especially baseball having coached little league and Babe Ruth teams for years and his dedication to his family will forever be remembered.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, three sisters; Elsie, Marie, Charlotte and a daughter, Cindy Matthiesen-Baxter. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children Mark Matthiesen (Colleen), Carla Wilson, Susan Stout (Mark) and Marcy Stahley (Phil), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family memorial held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in his memory to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation (whatcomhospice.org) or by mail; PO Box 35146, Seattle. WA 98124-5146.

We have memories of so many good times with Chuck and Nancy. We went fishing, crabbing, razor clamming at Ocean Shores. Went to Mexico a few years ago. Always such a fun time. We will miss him.
