Charles Navin Obituary

Charles Edward Navin&bb&Ilwaco, WA resident Charles E. Navin, 70, died in Ilwaco on October 18, 2002.&pe&The son of John and Mathilda (Amhurst) Navin, he was born in Elmhurst, IL on July 9, 1932. He grew up in Elmhurst, a suburb of Chicago, and received his education there. Charles worked for International Harvester as a sheetmetal worker prior to serving with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a first sergeant with the 143rd Field Artillery. Following his military duty he returned to Elmhurst where he was a sheetmetal worker for various companies. In 1959 he moved to the Seattle area and retired in the 1987, living in Lynnwood, WA at the time. He lived in Raymond, WA from 1990 until 1992 when he moved ot Cohasset, MN. He moved to the Long Beach Penninsula in 1997.&pe& Charles was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union. He enjoyed all types of fishing, especially for salmon on the Columbia River and in the ocean, and was an avid football fan.&pe&He and Claudine Lyrene were married in 1959 and she survives. Also surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Sharyn and Tom Tock, and Sherri and Jim Bainard; daughter Tammi Brenot; step-daughter Sandi and husband Bob Baxter; step-son Ray and wife Scotty Bacon; sisters Margy Huntinghouse, Edna Navin, and Lillian Scott; eleven grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.&pe&He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one granddaughter.&pe&At his request, no service will be held. Cremation arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach, WA.
