Cheryl Berry Obituary

July 7, 1948 - July 7, 2017 Cheryl Lynn Berry (nee Granfors) passed away peacefully on her 69th birthday July 7, 2017, at her home in Lake Goodwin Estates after a courageous battle with oral cancer which had been re-occurring for the past seven years. Cheryl was born July 7, 1948, to Carl Edwin and Nellie Granfors in Snohomish, WA. She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Michelle Berry of Vista, CA.; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Kris Sharrett of Mill Creek, WA.; and granddaughter, Paris Sharrett. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Anna Lee and Ray Kirtley of Snohomish, WA; sister-in-law, Susan Swan of Pullman, WA.; and numerous nieces, grandnieces and one nephew. Cheryl grew up in Lake Stevens, WA; was confirmed as a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church and graduated from Lake Stevens High School with the class of 1966 as class valedictorian. After graduation in the summer of 1966 she met the love of her life, Michael Berry at the dance at Silvana, WA. They went together for six months, became engaged and were married one year later on April 6, 1968. Cheryl's grandmother taught her how to knit when she was eight years old and she became a very accomplished knitter. In September of 1968, Mike and Cheryl took her sweaters to the Evergreen State Fair where she won several blue ribbons and one sweater won the coveted National Rosette. This sweater was sent to New York City and out of 500 entries it took 25th place. Cheryl worked a variety of jobs over the years which included a non-foods brokerage representative, fragrance sales at Bon Macy's, and most notably as a grocery checker for Olson's foods. Most recently, she worked with her husband, Mike in a housekeeping business and they both retired about four years ago. Everyone knows who the boss was! Cheryl was a gentle person who loved everyone she met and all animals especially cats and hummingbirds. Now that she has entered God's Kingdom, she is certainly enjoying being reunited with family that has passed before as well as her favorite cats: Punky, Tuffy and Missy. Cheryl loved many summer days at their home on Lake Chelan which included entertaining family and friends, waterskiing, swimming and boating. She also loved traveling to Hawaii and Mexico thanks to the guidance from our daughter, Michelle. At this time we would like to thank Providence Hospice for all of their wonderful care especially the following nurses: Lastinia, Deana, Colleen and Kathy; the bath aid, Lisa; and the social worker, Patty. There will be a memorial service in celebration of Cheryl's life on Saturday August 5, 2017, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens, WA. at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation in Cheryl's name to Providence Hospice: Everett, WA or Purrfect Pals: Arlington, WA.

So sorry Mike and family to hear of Cheryl's passing. I was a sophomore at LSHS when Cheryl was a senior. She graduated with my older sister Merleen who passed in 2011. I was always so envious of Cheryl's style, beauty, and elegance. Such a sweet and loving lady. "Grief is love without a home". God Bless

So very sorry to hear about Cheryl. We were away on vacation and just heard the sad news. I remember so many fun times I shared with Cheryl in the grocery store days. She was always a fun, sweet, loving friend, and always reconnected when ever I ran into her. You and the girls are in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. Hugs to you.

I am so sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. We missed her at our 50th class reunion last summer where we heard that she was too ill to attend. We went to school together and were confirmed together at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She was a very talented seamstress and I was so impressed with the knitted items that she created. My heart goes out to her family.

I'm so very sorry, Mike. I remember Cheryl as funny, sweet with a healthy dose of spunk, surely a woman of her time. Take care now.

To Mike, Michelle, Nicole, Anna Lee, Ray and the many family members that Cheryl leaves behind... Leslie and I are shocked to read about Cheryl's passing away. Such a kind and gentle person, always willing to listen, be humble and kind. We will always fondly remember the years we spent together when the kids were young. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this time of great sorrow and in the future. Be strong and remember her well in your minds and hearts.
