Cheryl Schuyler Obituary
Sherry Schuyler was born on June 28th, 1946 in Dallas, Texas to Fred and Mary Helen Schuyler. She was their second child and their only daughter. She grew up in Bothell, WA and graduated from Bothell High School in 1964. Sherry was a gifted artist. As a young girl she kept her very tidy mother, Mary Helen on her toes as Sherry pursued her often messy, artistic and enthusiastic endeavors. Sherry learned how to sew and made clothes for her dolls, her pets and for herself. One day, Mary Helen almost fainted when she looked out into the back yard only to see her five year old daughter, Sherry, hanging upside down by her ankles from the top bar of the industrial sized swing set her Daddy had installed in the back yard. Sherry had a strong bond with her Daddy, Fred. As a creative entrepreneur, he seemed to understand and relate to his daughter's need to dream, travel and create. The house she spent her early years in was less than a mile from where she lived with her daughter in the final years of her life. Her best childhood friend was named Gloria, whom she talked about her entire life. They spent many hours outside playing and having adventures. She was very proud of the rickshaw that she and her daddy made to give the neighborhood kids rides. Sherry was a loyal and loving daughter. She sat bedside with both of her parents as they passed on and made sure they were well cared for with love and dignity in their final years. As a young woman, Sherry fell in love with and married Stew Deibert, whom she met in high school. They had two children, Cindi and Troy. Sherry was a hands on mother. The neighborhood kids always congregated at her house for fun with friends, playdough and popsicles. She raised her children alongside her Sister in law, Heidi Schuyler and her boys, Steve and Shawn. Cindi and Troy have fond memories of these early years spent with their cousins and extended family. Eventually, the family moved to Tahoe, California. She met her dear friend Ann Kaye during this time and they remained friends forever more. After Sherry and Stew divorced, Sherry found her way to the California coast. She loved the ocean, the sun, the art and the artists. She would move back to Seattle from time to time but always was drawn back to Cambria. Sherry was a free spirit with an overwhelming desire to visit and photograph the different people, animals and places in this world. She traveled quite a bit when her children were grown. In addition to her abstract art, she became an amazing photographer and built a thriving business. She had a wonderful community of friends from California, Oregon, New Mexico and Washington. Stony Wilson and Heidi Schuyler spoke with Sherry almost daily after she moved to Seattle three years ago. They were so special to her and a huge support. She also was very close to her two kitties, Puddy and Jack. Sherry was a kind and giving person. She was so proud of her kids and grandkids. She was always learning new things and always working to be her best. We all saw the beauty in her and we all feel the sting of losing her. She is survived by her son, Troy Deibert and his fiancé Annie Rutledge, her daughter Cindi Thompson and son in law Damon Thompson, her 5 grandchildren, Evelyn (Jess), Skylar (Jordan), Seth, Cassidy, Kai her two great grandchildren, Daphne and Cosmo, her sister in law Heidi Schuyler, nephew Steve Schuyler and brother Ken Schuyler (Joyce). She was proceeded in death by her beloved nephew Shawn Schuyler. Sherry passed away unexpectedly and peacefully while she slept in the early morning of March 8, 2022. She died at home in her bed in the exact spot that her two great grandchildren had been born 8 and 6 years previously. It is truly a sacred space as it holds the energy of new souls joining us earthside and an old soul traveling back home again after a life well lived. No service will be held at Sherry's request.
