Christopher McGrew Obituary

Christopher Ivan McGrew, 45, of Everett passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family after losing his battle with cancer on January 18, 2014. Chris leaves his wife, Traci; his children, Ainsleigh, Kaxten and Quinn; father, Arthur (Sue Long) McGrew, of Everett; mother, Colleen Delk-Marshall, of Snohomish; stepbrother, Dave "Bro" (Kris Burnham) Brueher of Everett; in-laws, Jean (Bob) Wagner of Mount Vernon, OH; "adopted" mother, Sandra "Grandma Sandy" Blomquist; and brother, Kelly (Robyn) Blomquist of Lake Stevens. Born in Everett, he grew up in Everett and Lake Stevens and attended high schools in both areas. He also graduated from Bellevue Community College. Chris worked as a computer programmer and database developer, most recently with Trupanion. He was an avid gamer (video and strategy card games) and enjoyed motorcycling. His love for his children drove his decision on how to fight his battle with cancer and every decision he made since his diagnosis was made to maximize his remaining time with them. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seattle Cancer Center Alliance and Evergreen Hospice. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Seattle Children's Hospital.

Christopher (Sid) was a friend and co-worker of mine in the mid 1990's, I moved to Spokane and lost touch with him. I am Facebook friends with his first wife and just found out he had passed away since I had finally asked her about his where abouts (awkward question). This hit me hard as I always had a great time with him. It sounded as if he did spend the last part of his life with his family which is what he was all about.
I will miss him and the great times we had.

I enjoyed my visits with Chris and family this past year. He was a good friend over all these years and I will miss him. I know he was hurting and although I will miss him I am glad he is no longer in pain.

I haven't seen Chris for years, but he was good friends with my son Ryan and Kelly, when they were growing up. So sorry for his pain and so sorry for your loss. Betty Carlson (Ryan Keeler's mom)
