Daniel Kinnaird Obituary

Daniel H. Kinnaird passed away at home just shy of his 70th birthday. Dan was born in Seattle, Washington to parents Robert and Rachel Kinnaird. All who knew Dan saw in him a thoughtful and compassionate friend with a ready smile who, from his earliest years, made friends easily, keeping most of them for life. Dan attended Queen Anne High School where he met his future wife, Pat Fox. He graduated in 1961 and went on to work at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair before starting a long tenure in the window manufacturing business. Dan and Pat married in 1965 and celebrated 48 years of marriage this year. Dan enjoyed anything that kept him moving including biking, golfing (recorded a hole-in-on at Wayne's Gold Course), exercising, skiing, dancing, taking long walks and attending the Husky football games. He volunteered for years at Camp Parsons, the Humane Society's Tuxes 'N Tails annual auction, delivered Senior boxes to shut-ins and on Christmas day delivered presents for the Forgotten Children's Program and on Thanksgiving day helped decorate Nordstrom's for Christmas. He took great joy in picking out a child's name from the Christmas Giving Trees and then shopping until he found just the right gift. Dan was courageous, never one to bow to adversities. An industrial accident nearly cost him his life in 1972 when he fell from a 5-story building. He recovered and like the health challenges he would face again and again, he met them head on, often referring to these new challenges as Speed Bumps. Friends and Family called him the Energizer Bunny because he just kept going and going. Retirement provided the opportunity for Dan and Pat to visit friends, travel on mystery trips, cruise, travel abroad and attend out-of-state Husky football games which included a Husky Tailgating cruise (only Huskies allowed) and a Husky bus. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Julie Anne, Dan is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his brothers, Doug, Bob (Karen); sisters, Judy and Janet (Alan), and numerous nephews and nieces all who deeply loved this kind, gentle man who will always remain in our hearts. Your M. O., My Love, was that you were always a little late but this time you left us way too soon. I will love you forever and ever. No service at Dan's request but a Celebration of Dan's Life will be Sunday, October 27, at the Nile Country Club any time between 3 and 7p.m. Contributions in Dan's name can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Washington State Chapter, P. O. Box 75169, Seattle, Washington 98175 or the Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Fund, 12040 N. E. 128th St. / MS #5, Kirkland, Washington 98034.

I sent a card as we could not attend the memorial for Dan. The card came back in the mail today. We have been out of touch and I am guessing you have moved. So sorry for your loss, if I had your new address I would send it out again. Ginger & Randall Carey

The purpose of our trip thru life is not the "end". But at the end, the purpose was the trip. We have traveled many places, many times and now it is time to rest, dear friend.
