Dennis Mann Obituary

Dennis Mann November 22, 1946 - May 7, 2023 Dr. Dennis S.Mann, 76, of Stanwood, Washington entered into Gods kingdom on May 7th, 2023. He was born November, 22, 1946 to Lorraine and Burton Mann in Chicago, Illinois.

Dennis was the most loving son, father and grandfather and a devoted husband for 31 years. He is survived by his wife, Laurie; his father, Burt ;sons Jason and John (Amber); daughters Brianna (Donovan) Ashley and Hayly ;grandchildren, Wyatt, Grayson, Hunter, Declan, Harlow, Noah,Nya and Catalina. And we can't forget his sweet kitties he loved so much; Athena and Kiara.

Dennis served his country in the Vietnam War as a special forces medical evacuation helicopter pilot. He was a proud veteran and an American patriot.

After the war he went onto medical school and graduated top of his class from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He had a long and dedicated career as a family medicine doctor and helped countless patients throughout his life. His love and dedication to his patients brought him tremendous joy and he was always there when they needed him. Being a physician was the greatest passion of his life and he will always be remembered for his incredible mind and gentle way of caring for his patients.

Dennis had an amazing sense of humor and could always be found making his family members laugh uncontrollably. He had a thirst for knowledge and truth. Dennis was an avid reader, he always had a stack of books he was devouring along with countless medical journals. The man pretty much knew everything about everything.

Dennis was a man of great Christian faith and found comfort in that. Dennis loved laying in the sun and reading while having his feet in the water of the lake he lived on. His grandchildren will always remember sharing a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream with him. He will always be remembered and cherished by all who loved him, especially his dearest friends Lori and Dave Evans and Gary and Maureen Crow.

A memorial service will be held more information to follow.

Dennis was very dear to us! He was not only our doctor, but a friend . I´m sure every patient would say these exact words, as Dennis was kind, gentle, caring and a loving person. I met him first as he hired us for his janitorial service in his Lake City medical office. We became longtime friends from that time on! We still miss Dennis, he will certainly never be forgotten! You did good Dennis!!
See you again someday.

What a wonderful Dr. Dr Mann so full of compasssion. My husband Lonnie and I both were under his care. Dr Mann loved our little dog, he would always tell us our Dog, Casanova behaved better than some children. He always want to see him when we came for our appointments. May he Rest In Peace. Dr Mann was my doctor following a serious 2 cow accident in Kauai. He was the best diagnostician I´ve ever seen!
I only just heard about his passing after referring a friend to him last week. When she tried to make an appointment with him, she found and sent me his obituary. I´m so sad to hear of his death. I hope his passing was peaceful.
My sincere condolences to Laurie and his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Mann passing. He took such good care of me. He knew me better than I knew myself and often corrected what other Providers were trying to do to me.
I realize it's been awhile since his passing and i only hope that his family sees my message. He was truly a great friend and Dt. He is missed greatly i am sure.
My heart goes out to your family

Today my heart is so very heavy and sad. Dennis was like a 2nd father to me, and I like others who have commented was a patient and friend from his early days at Lake City, starting in 1988-89 if memory serves me right. I know when I 1st saw him as a Dr, he & Laurie were just starting to date!!! I know how much he loved her, and I actually met her once when they were just starting their romance. He was head over heels for her.
That man helped me in so many ways, professionally and personally, he always had words of wisdom. Several times he called me out about my weight issues and urged me to better myself and I heeded his advice. I weighed 450 lbs and now I am steadily holding on at 220lbs for over 5yrs now.
He took a shining to my great nephew and treated him like he was a son. He was so proud of him when he became a city council member in our hometown, Longview Washington. Yes, after I moved away from Seattle and he moved north to Smokey Point I kept him as my primary Dr. His attitude of no nonsense/common sense ways were very rare. He said doctors are practicing medicine and "we're not God", and I found that to be profound. I informed him "when you figure it out, give me a call". We both rolled on the ground laughing and became true friends.
I also was shocked when he warned me 10-15yrs ago that the medical field was changing and not for the good. He told me that patients would ultimately end up getting illegal drugs from the streets and end up dying because of government beaucracy and ill intentioned politicans. I've seen his predictions sadly come to fruition. Thankfully he prepared me for this and this is just one of many ways he helped many people who were in need.
On a more pleasant note, I don't think I ever saw him happier than when he told me about the birth of Hayly, that was one proud poppa!!! He was extremely proud of all of his children and grandchildren, and I know the deep love he held for Laurie.
I am so very fortunate that he got to meet the love of my life at my last Dr appt. It was very emotional for us both, both in tears as we parted ways.
He quietly handed me a note with his private cell number on it and asked me to stay in touch. We did for a while, and I know now that when he told me of his illness that he was trying to spare me worry. He was absolutely giddy when I sent him photos of my great nephew's first born son and he was also so excited when Spencer won a Longview City Council seat. He is smiling in heaven now as Spencer was elected Mayor of our fair city in January of this year, the youngest mayor in our city's history. He was a big encouragement for Spencer when he announced he wanted to enter politics at the ripe age of 12 yrs old. He told Dennis he was going to be the youngest mayor in Longview and I know he is smiling down on him now.
Laurie, Hayly and the whole family I hope are coping with this great loss, but rest assured he is with our Lord & Savior. He will always be with us.
I feel a huge hole in my broken heart today , but feel so very proud to call him my friend and he will always be by my side, I have his words of wisdom to draw from.
God Bless you my friend in heaven.
My deepest sympathy to the whole family and friends of Dennis S Mann, a Giant of a man. I love you buddy.

What a wonderful human being and Dr. He was my Dr and then my hubby. I started with him in Lake City and stayed with him until he retired. We had a pomeranian and he would always tell us to bring him in as our little dog behaved better than some children. He was a wonderful and compassionate Dr. We just saw that Dr Mann passed and wanted to express of sincerest condolences to you all. He will be missed by so many. We are thankful to have shared a part of our life with him. Lonnie, Helen Meadows and Casanova our Pomeranian.

He was my doctor for a short time, it would have been longer, but that's just the way life goes, he is honest and true, and truly did care about the people he tried to help and serve, I find this truly sad, but he is with God now

Dennis was a sweet sweet man. We go back to Lake City, where he practiced. I owned a janitorial business and cleaned his offices and the surrounding ones for years. He became not only my doctor, but all my family member´s doctor and friend. Him and Buck were two of a kind, and the door was knocked on many times to move on...He loved to chat. We had many, many conversations about life and family.
Dennis tried so hard to make things good for everyone. His light shined bright and enlightened many people. His work is done here and he has moved on. Laurie and family, you are strong and will move on, but Dennis will always be with you!

Denny and I were classmates at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1977. Denny was the smartest medical student in our class, always acing classes and graduating top of our class. Words and phrases that come to mind for Denny - Professional, highly intelligent, compassionate, patient centered, and a medical student who could read a text once and commit it to memory that others would struggle to learn.

All of our classmates recognized Dr. Dennis Mann as the most welcoming, generous, and knowledgeable source of clinical information. Denny was an excellent physician and teacher. He engaged you and inspired you to imitate his enjoyment of the challenge of medical practice and the opportunity of providing care to patients. 45 years later I don´t have to open my yearbook to see his smile. Thank you, Dr. Mann, for being the example to us we never forgot.

Dr. Dennis Mann had the biggest impact on my life and saved me more than once. He truly was the best Dr. I ever had the privilege of being a patient of 15 years and anyone I referred say the same. It was not only his knowledge, he truly cared for his patients. I will never find this level of care and I truly miss him. I know he is in the Kingdom and will see him again, rest peacefully until then.
My deepest sympathy to his family and friends for this monumental loss. May God surround you in his loving arms of comfort.

I can honestly say that Dr. Mann was a most wonderful caring doctor and friend that my husband and I cared very deeply for . Dr Mann was my doctor and friend for at least 25 years , I met him when his office was at Northgate and when I found out he was moving to Smoky point I gladly made the trip from Seattle. My husband and I are very sad and shocked to know of his death . You see there will never be another sweet man and friend and doctor like him. I would like to say to his sweet daughter and his wife that we are so sorry for your loss , he will always be remembered for the kindest , honorable man that he was , I'm sure that God opened his arms to greet him in Heaven. May he rest in peace , Fran and Pat M.

I just got the message from Haley, We have been away and did not get the news until now. I am so sorry for your loss; your father was such a wonderful doctor to me and listener I felt at ease when speaking with him. He always had a smile on his face. I would occasionally run into to him at the grocery store and he would always say hi and give me a hug. Prayers and condolences to you and your family.

My heart is saddened of Dr. Mann´s passing. He was an incredible physician that one will NEVER find this day and age. He genuinely cared for you as a patient and took the time to listen not just try and throw something at you in a short 5 minutes visit nowadays and hope it sticks! If the doctors today would take a lesson in how he practiced our world would be a better place. God Bless Hayley and your family honey. May your father rest in peace and know he´s watching over you all.

I'm so saddened to hear of Dr Manns passing. I know he is pain free, in heaven. He was the best Doc I ever had (I've had hundreds). He always listened and then he took time to ask about my family & told sweet stories of Vacas with his wife & children. He loved his family so very much. He raised such a wonderful daughter (Hayly, the only one I know, his bright blue eyes live on in his daughter).
My prayers are with his beautiful wife & children. I'd like to attend a memorial if he has one. Rest in Heavenly peace Dennis Mann. You are missed.
