Diane Barker Kieland, born January 14, 1939, to Burke and Gena Barker, passed away August 20, 2021, after battling multiple illnesses. Diane grew up in Everett, WA, graduated from Everett High School in 1957, and pursued her education at the University of Washington, where she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After a brief stint in Newport Beach, CA, Diane returned to the Seattle area. After working for Simpson Timber Company for several years, she met her wonderful husband Gary Kieland. They relocated in Everett where they raised their two sons Stuart and Christopher. Diane was selfless and dedicated to helping others. Her first priority was her family: her husband, 2 sons, and her grandson Cole. Her extended family, sister Linda Spear and family, and brother Burke Barker and family, were recipients of her generosity, love and caring. As a volunteer at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA, for 30 years, Diane became an advocate for patients and their families; more recently she volunteered at the hospital's gift shop. Neighbors and friends marveled at Diane's active life. Seen running or power walking with various canine species, Diane kept herself healthy and fit and was a role model for the health conscious. Impeccably dressed and a true beauty, Diane welcomed friends and family to her lovely home and manicured gardens. Diane was predeceased by her husband Gary (2008) brother Burke Barker (2017), and several special and beloved dogs. Survivors: her son Stuart, his wife Molly; son Christopher and his wife Paula; her grandson Cole; sister Linda; sister-in-law Jeanne Barker. All who knew and loved Diane will miss her compassion and radiant smile. Whenever you meet a golden retriever, think of Diane! A private family service was held to celebrate Diane's life. Contributions in her memory may be sent to: Providence Hospice Foundation or the charity of your choice. January 14, 1939 - August 20, 2021

Diane has grown more and more dear to me over the years. Since the YMCA in the 90'S through this summer dining with us at Anthony's, I have always had a special affection for her. We would bump into each other out walking from time to time as well. I will miss you more than you know my sweet friend. I truly believe that you are free from pain and dancing with your man!!!

A sad goodbye to "Lady Di" and her indomitable spirit. She was a dear friend to both my late twin sister, Judy and myself. Knowing Diane, she will surely be tracking down Judy to continue their eternal friendship journey. My condolences to her family.

I worked at EG&CC for a combined 23 years and knowing Gary and Diane was truly a special treat. In later years Diane would always greet me in the hallway and ask me how my day was going. To Linda and the boys, your sister and mom will always live on in my memories of grace and kindness and human spirit.

I worked in the Post Anesthetic Care Unit where Diane was one of our volunteers. She always had a big smile on her face, treated the families with great respect and care. When Stuart had a hard phase in life, Diane received support from all of us. The family had us over for a wonderful BBQ and Diane gave each of us a beautiful gift as a thank you for the support. When I look at the gift, I always think of Diane. She will be missed. Heartfelt sympathy to the family.
