Pastor Gerken, It's been 5 years since you entered into eternal life, I've had the privilege of seeing a glimpse of your children and grandchildren's lives through social media, and you must be proud. You trained them well. They all seem to be fine and outstanding human beings. I've always looked up to you and Sharon, and your memory will be forever memorialized as a pillar of strength I'm my life. Take care sir, until we see you again.

I met the Gerkin family when they moved to Colorado. I immediately became friends with Don's sons Andrew and Eric. As a restless teenager Don's was very patient with me and his preaching got through to me. I remember the exact moment when in the middle of dons sermon, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. At that moment I accepedt christ as my savior. I will forever be thankful for this Pastor Don and his family.

To the Gerken family, I knew Bro Don from Harvest Time church in Crosby. He was such a blessing and inspiration! Our hearts sorrow with yours but our joy for him as he has reached the goal of his life, home with his Savior!

Papa Gerken left a lasting impression on me from my Bible College days. So thankful I was able to track you all down in time to let him know how much I appreciated him for the things he sowed into my life. He will never be forgotten. I'm certain he is running down the street of gold. Prayers for all the family.

Donald Gerken allowed me to serve under him on my first mission trip. I thought I was testing the waters...but instead I got months of wisdom and insight, training and inspiration. I never was content staying inside the box after that. Today, my wife and I serve on the field. He performed our wedding. I performed the wedding of one of his kids. Intertwined in memories and influence...he will live on through legacy.

I became acquainted with Don and Sharon when they became missionaries with Church of God World Missions in Cleveland, TN. I am glad I had the opportunity to become friends with them. He will be missed. We are praying for his family.
