Dorothy Thompson

On November 10th, 2025, Dorothy B. Thompson (97) passed peacefully into heaven. She was born on October 4th, 1928, in North Bend, Washington to Jim and Clara Foxe. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1946 and married Ken Smith that same year. She helped establish his boat company, Glas-Ply; working in both the shop and office. They were together for twenty-four years.

In 1988, Dorothy married Dr. Arthur (Art) Thompson, an accomplished chiropractor, and welcomed his three children and grandchildren into the family fold. They traveled the United States extensively as well as entertaining friends and loved ones. Art passed away in 2013.

In 2018, Dorothy moved to Chandler, Arizona, along with her daughter, son-in-law, and beloved kitty, Maggie.

Dorothy had a "green thumb" and a passion for growing flowers and vegetables. She was a wonderful cook, a loving, caring person, and a prayer warrior for many. Dorothy was a member of Berean Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her two children, Steven (Sheryl) Smith and Katherine Alderman; two grandsons, Matthew (Mari) Alderman and Christopher Alderman; two great-grandchildren, Maya (Gabe) Sperling and Tyler Alderman, E5 US Navy. She also leaves Jerry (Judy) Thompson, Craig (Susan) Thompson, and Becky (Jeff) Stewart, plus their children, grandchildren, and great grandkids. Dorothy also has numerous nieces and nephews, with whom she was very close.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorials may be given to The Salvation Army, Special Olympics, or Berean Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Her celebration of life will be held December 4th, at 2:PM at the: Marysville Historical Museum, 6805 Armar RD, Marysville, WA 98270
