Elizabeth Lou Schack, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 10, 2022 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on June 29, 1941 in Everett, WA at General Hospital to Elizabeth Feeney and Narcees Perrault. She had three brothers: William "Skook" Boursaw, Harold & Ernie Perrault; and two sisters: Antonette Liles and Catherine Berg.
Betty attended Everett Junior and High Schools and graduated with the Class of 1959. In 1964, she would marry her husband of over 55 years, Ron Schack Sr. Her first jobs were at the Scott Paper Company, Tilly's Restaurant and Pioneer First Federal Bank before starting a mortgage company in the 80's with a friend. She eventually changed careers again to work at the State of Washington DSHS for 20 years until her retirement in 2004. Betty loved having fun with friends & family traveling on camping trips, playing games and celebrating the holiday seasons. When her children were younger, she enjoyed going to the flat-track motorcycle races in Monroe and Bellingham. Betty and her husband Ron would take the grandchildren camping every summer - swimming, making good food followed by s'mores, or just relaxing in the outdoors. Later in life, Betty picked up golfing with her husband during their winters in Arizona, as well as the occasional arts & crafts. She was a funny, thoughtful person who always had a witty comeback ready for any situation. Boop was a strong-willed, but gentle mother and grandmother. After all, she helped raise three generations! She was an avid reader, often finishing multiple novels a month. Gambling was another of her hobbies, visiting Reno or Las Vegas at least once year after retirement. She especially loved playing slots. Many people, friends and family included, have fond memories sharing a table over a game of cards or dice with her. Even her grandchildren, who often were playing with funds straight from her own penny purse.
In addition to her parents, Betty is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, her husband Ron, and her grandson Donny. She is survived by her children Carrie Payne, Marcie Schack, Donald "Jake" Schack, and Ron Schack Jr.; her grandchildren, Shauntae Crouse, Alicia Williams, Danni Schack, Nick Schack, Matt Schack, Ronald Schack III; and her great-grandchildren, Abbigail Crouse, Kaylynn Schack, and Brooklynn Schack.
Family, friends, and all others whose lives Boop touched are welcome to join us next month to reminisce, grieve, support each other and hang out to honor a genuinely wonderful person. Please reach out to the family for service details.
