Falken Christopher Forshaw was born in Gloucester, England in 1941 to Joan Bryan and Richard Forshaw. He felt deep ties to his birthplace throughout his life, even after moving to Spokane, WA at age 8 to be with his mother. Falken was a unique and generous man with a kind hearted soul. Many remember his calm and assuring presence, listening to and encouraging those around him. Usually a man of few words, he would light up when sharing his favorite topic; ancient architecture. As a lifelong meditator he was devoted to integrating Consciousness and Bliss into every part of life, through practicing Transcendental Meditation daily for over 40 years.
He embraced his role as a husband to Susan Jane Russell (b. Colfax, WA), father to children Harper and Avalon, and brother to Penny and James Forshaw. He loved caring for his grandchildren (aka little adorables). He was committed as a true friend and community member, especially in Everett, WA where he lived for 40 years and was integral in preserving the historical character of the city and contributing to the arts community.
Falken was a lifelong scholar and academic who graduated Lewis and Clark HS in Spokane, University of Washington (BA - Architecture), and University of Oregon (PhD, Geography). He studied the Caracol at Chitchen Itza in the Yucatán, traveling there twice to measure its intricate alignments. He became certified in the Vastu practice of architecture in 2014, to fulfill his goal of bringing alignment with Natural Law.
Those of us that knew Falken will take with us his selflessness and ability to enjoy life at a slower pace. In memory of Falken - slow down, take it as it comes, enjoy being in this moment.
"I am that. Thou art that. All this is that."

Falken added to my life in many ways of sharing. We often visited in the Everett Libary's NW Room where i worked. Conversations ranged from architecture=, nature, meditation, life in general and an incredible sharing of music (all kinds) He definitely was an encourager.

It was an honor to work with Falken, who was a charter member of the Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission which I was privileged to staff through my position as Snohomish County's Sr. Planner for Historic Preservation. His calm and reasoned approach to various ideas and controversies, and his wonderful sense of humor often defused even the most tense discussions and helped the commission reach consensus as we all worked to preserve the precious cultural heritage of our community.

A memory...
Falken was driving three of us to our TM meditation group in NW Portland. With his ever-artistic eye, he directed us to this cloud formation that I captured. Yep, dem´s some special ships camouflaged in the clouds. Thanks, Falcon, for noticing. We had a pretty good chuckle. And always just enough fun. Carry on.

I remember Fallken very fondly,he was a daily visitor to the hospital for coffee and great conversation. He and Susan were a daily welcome visitor. There were days Harper and Avalon would come as well . Watching them grow leaves great memories. We have many fond memories of Falken and Susan when they lived in Everett. They held a Valentines festival in their house, moving furniture to accommodate handmade treasures from local artists. I participated several years and it was a special place. I remember Susan and Falken making homemade pasta and of course many other artistic gifts. I always had such interesting conversations with Falken when we talked. Sure missed them both as neighbors when they moved to Portland. RIP Falken.
