Fred Renfro Obituary


Fred D. Renfro

Fred D. Renfro was born on February 26, 1938 in Everett, Washington to Fred and Fay (LaMar) Renfro and died of cancer on March 15, 2009 at his home in Everett under the care of his son, Kenneth.
Fred spent his whole life in Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1957. While in high school he worked at Lee Grocery and Eclipse Mill and joined the Naval Reserve after graduation. He was called up to active duty in 1961 going overseas to Viet Nam and received an honorable discharge in 1962.
He worked at Nord Door in Everett as a machine operator from 1957 to 1968, then, went to work at the Boeing 747 plant in Everett as an inspector for two years. In 1970 he became a machinist and worked at Evergreen Industries for many years. During his last two years, before retirement he was employed with a machine shop in Arlington, WA, inspecting airplane parts.
As a young man, Fred enjoyed hiking and fishing and combined them with another lifelong hobby, photography. He was an artist his whole life, starting from grade school with crayons and later going to oils, watercolors and inks. He sold many painting over the years. Later he added tropical fish raising and gardening to his many interests. From the beginning, he was interested in model airplanes. He built and flew many on control lines and later on radio controlled planes. Fred like most guys was fascinated with muscle cars and hot rods.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred; mother, Fay; and cousins, Bob Berg and Louie Renfro.
Fred is survived by his son, Kenneth; brothers, Bill and Jim; sister, Kathy and (Frank Stearns); cousins, Rod Berg, Joe Renfro, Roberta (Renfro) McCarty, Carolyn (Renfro) Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy. Graveside Service will follow at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett.
