Harold Floyd "Pete" Stanley

1928 - 2015

1928 – 2015 Pete Stanley passed away from emphysema on March 23, 2015 at the Gene and Irene Wockner Hospice at Evergreen Hospital, Kirkland. Pete was born in Victor, Montana, on July 20, 1928 to George and Zona Stanley and travelled to Seattle, Wash. in order to join the US Merchant Marine in 1946. After sailing the North Pacific routes, he married Dorothy A. Dudley on October 15, 1948 in Seattle; the marriage lasted for over fifty years. After the birth of their first son John, Pete decided to remain on land. In 1953, the family moved to Bellevue, Wash. where Pete established the Stanley Roofing Company in 1954. The same year he became a member of the Masons, later joining the Scottish Rite, and becoming a Shriner in 1971. Pete was a passionate outdoorsman, avidly pursuing fishing and hunting. He travelled to Alaska, Canada, and South Africa to fulfill these activities. Pete is survived by his sons, John (Toronto), Kent (Snohomish), Raymond (Redmond), Tim (Woodinville), and Mark (Kirkland). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Rebekah and Brier, Charlotte and Peter, Kaleb and Lorne, Austen and Jack. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; and his siblings, George Jr, Irene, and Charlene and half-brothers, Earl, Amerson, and Hoyt McCormick. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215-145th Pl. S.E., Bellevue, WA on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
