Janice M. (Margaretich) White

A life of love and faith. Janice M (Margaretich) White passed away November 5, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. Janice, along with her identical twin sister Jonette, was born September 10, 1937, in Everett WA to parents Rosalyn and John Margaretich. Their childhood was filled with horseback riding with friends Charlotte Hublou and Carol Zigler. Janice attended Jefferson Elementary School and later Immaculate Conception School. While attending Everett High School, Janice was a member of the Seagal Drill Team, graduating in 1955. Her classmates remain a very close-knit group. Their reunion committee has met nearly every month for decades.

Janice attended Everett Junior College and later attended WSU where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. While on an Everett Junior College rooter bus, she met the love of her life, Allan White. They were married on September 28,1957 at Immaculate Conception Church, with a reception at the Monte Cristo Ballroom. A family soon followed with the births of Wendy, Cathy, Jenny and Allan, Jr.. In 1962 the family moved into their forever home in North Everett.

When the children started school, she entered the working world. She was a postmistress at the Pinehurst Post Office. Later she joined her mother, Rose, at Scott Paper where she started in the office before transitioning to plant security.

While working at the security gate at Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark, she greeted each employee as an old friend. She also joined the safety team and taught CPR. After retirement, Janice continued to teach CPR at many businesses and community groups in Snohomish County.

Mom had a lifelong love of animals. First as a child riding and showing horses with her sister and friends, and later the family had many pets. She found a true love in Shelties. The family enjoyed many litters of puppies over the years. Later, Mom adopted a King Charles Spaniel named Addie. She had Addie certified as a comfort animal. Together they brought comfort to many hospital patients as well as homebound members of the community. Over the years, Janice loved to walk her dogs through her neighborhood. Often she would stop for a chat and share a hug with her neighbors.

Janice had a lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith. She attended Immaculate Conception Church and School. Later in life, Janice became a Eucharistic Minister giving communion to members of the congregation along with those in the hospital as well as shut ins. She also belonged to the Immaculate Conception Care Team in her retirement years. At a mass celebrating Janice and Allan's 25th wedding anniversary, Allan surprised her by becoming a member of the Catholic Church.

She had many interests from toll painting, to prize winning canning, as well as teaching first aid. All the while keeping up her beautiful gardens. Mom and Dad loved to travel up until Allan's passing in 2013.

Most of all, Janice loved her family. From singing her favorite lullaby to each generation of children, "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck", to Sunday dinners, and summer trips to Lake Chelan. Family always came first.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allan White Sr., her parents John and Rosalyn Margaretich, her mother-in-law, Linda White, as well as brothers in law, Lewis Pearson, Robert Luckey, and Mike Ryan and her granddaughter Lisa (Draper) Mendez.

She is survived by her children Wendy, Cathy (Ed), Jenny (Dale), and Allan, Jr (Leann); also her grandchildren Trevor, Patrick (Teneal), Anthony (Zhanna), Daniel (Mireya), Rebeca (Ashish), Nathan (Liz), Jordan, Isaac, Nicholas and Adam. Also surviving her are great-grandchildren Anastacia (Dakota), Antanello, Antonius, Sean, Allan, Noah, Eduardo, Omar, and Ramel, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

During the last 10 years of her life, Janice enjoyed the companionship of Jerry Solie, whom she had known since kindergarten.

The family would like to thank Home Instead for their exceptional caregivers, and a heartfelt thank you to Dori, who she called her dear friend. Also, a special thank you to her grandson, Jordan Smith, for his compassionate care these last 3 years.

A rosary will be held December 10th at 7pm, with a funeral mass on Thursday December 11, at 11am. Both will be at Our Lady of Hope Church (formerly Immaculate Conception Church) in Everett. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Our Lady of Hope Food Bank or the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org.
