John Grosso Obituary

John Michael Grosso was born on May 30, 1945, in Seattle, Washington to John Grosso Sr. and Shirley Vann Grosso. After graduating from Ingraham High School he attended Shoreline Community College. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the Navy in September of 1965 and served in the Vietnam War until his separation from the armed forces in 1971. John went back to building Allied Ice Company into the largest ice manufacturer north of Sacramento with five locations. He was very active in both the Western Ice Association and the International Packaged Ice Association. In 2012 he sold the company with the intention of retiring. After ten short months he and his wife purchased Builders Millwork Supply in South Everett, WA, where he worked until his passing. John managed to satisfy his love of racing cars and motorcycles by joining the SCCA and other racing associations. This took him to many parts of the United States and Canada. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Grosso; his brother, Danny Grosso, and his sister, Shirley Mae Aspnes. He leaves behind his wife Sherry (Parks) Grosso; siblings, Suzanne Young, Janie McDonald, and Patty Huso. A visitation is scheduled at Solie Funeral Home on Saturday January 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 11 a.m., and a committal service at Evergreen Cemetery at 1 p.m. Following all services will be a reception at the Future of Flight Museum, Forward and Aft Cabins later in the day. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a worthy Veterans association or Wounded Warriors. All arrangements are entrusted to Solie Funeral Home.

I worked with John when we worked for the Boeing Company in Renton. He was always jovial and good natured. Rest in peace John.

I knew John for at least 40 years in the ice business. As my territory decreased I lost contact with him except for seeing him at the National conventions. He always greeted me with a smile and remembered who I was. I remember him for his highly ethical business policies. He will be missed by old friends like me, by family and by his many business contacts who, I'm sure, hold him in as high esteem as I do.

Some people we only get to know for a short time in this world but they make you feel so loved and important that it feels like your life was only complete once you met them.

John,

I miss your smiling face and your love for adventure. I will miss your fun, enthusiastic and brilliant mind.

Sent Flowers

Dear Sherry,

I am sending my heartfelt sympathies to you with John's passing. You may recall, we were classmates at WSHS in 1963. I knew John in the Corvette Marque Club for three decades as a competitor's toughest competitor. I shared his passion for America's ONLY true sports car: the Corvette! John was always upbeat with a great sense of humor; everyone admired his love of speed. We truly enjoyed collecting trophies at the awards banquets. If the 14 inches of Portland snow melts, I will drive my yellow Corvette to his funeral on Saturday.

Warm regards,
