John “Jack” Rilot Garthley Jr. Obituary

Jack, 84, of Lake Stevens, WA, passed peacefully 9.6.2026 surrounded by family. Jack was born 7.8.1942 in Seattle to Grace and John Garthley. He took to boating very early in life , spending much of his childhood on the water in Edmonds in the small boat his dad built. Jack attended school in Edmonds and did a tour in the Army after graduation. He enjoyed motorcycle racing, off-road racing, and lived to be at the boat at 5AM with friends to drink coffee and tell lies. Jack was a past Commodore at the Everett Yacht Club and was happy to work with groups like Salmon for Soldiers and fishing with the blind derby. Jack is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dona Garthley, daughters Carol Burch (Terry), Karen Stangeland (Leif), Kimberley Garthley, Jennifer Turner (Wade), son Donald Garthley, grandchildren Andrew, TJ, Lauren, Jonathan, Samantha,Meleiha, Anna, Catlynn, Matthew, Haley, Trevor and great grandchildren Madeline, Oliver, Theodore, Charles, Adalyn, Gunnar, Joseph, Kyler and Lenny. A celebration of like will be announced later.
