John was born in Seattle Washington, to John Fielding McCoy (Sr.) and Eleanor Marie (O'Hara) McCoy, and was joined by brothers Bob and Paul a few years later, and the family soon moved to Marysville, Washington where John eventually met and married his 1st wife Louise Erickson in March of 1960. She blessed him with three sons, Kevin, Patrick and Kyle, a daughter Lisa, and four children from her previous marriage, Rosemary, Kathy, Johnny, and Michael. John and Louise divorced in 1980. John served stateside as an MP during the Korean War conflict and in the mid 70's re-joined the military, proudly serving in the Washington State National Guard, becoming the skipper of the USAV Gen. Brehon B. Somervell (LSV 3), a logistic support vessel, until his retirement in 1996.
By the Grace of God, John had 53 years of recovery from alcoholism, and he freely shared his experience, strength and hope at meetings. He became the director of Community Alcohol Services in Everett, Arlington and Lynnwood. It was there he met his future wife Lynn, whom he hired as an alcohol counselor in 1978. They fell in love, and were married November 15th, 1981, walking together every step of the way, until God called him home, just ten days after their forty-third anniversary.
After retiring from the military, John went to work at Cedar Springs Christian Camp. He enjoyed his time there, and was truly blessed, as he and Lynn made some life-long friendships. John had a strong faith in God, and he and Lynn attended the Free Methodist Church in Marysville WA, for many years.
John is survived by his wife Lynn, his sons (and their spouses) Kevin (Debbie), Patrick (Marlea) and Kyle. His stepchildren Johnny (Vickie), Michael (Barb), Kathy and Rosemary. Lynn's daughter Kelly (Tony), grand-daughters, Shelby and Michelle, and Kelly's sons, Monty, Eric and Jason. His brothers Robert (Elizabeth) and Paul (Phillis). He was preceded in death by Louise, and his beloved daughter Lisa. (From Lynn)
As his wife, I thank God, for having had the blessing of John in my life, and take comfort in the assurance that I know, I will see him again.

I was honored and blessed to know John. He was very easy going and loved talking about his days in the service. I did a video for John and a portion was about his time in the service. I never had a video that I had to read a learn so much but glad I did. He had so many accomplishments and had a lot of reason to be proud. I am so glad I was able to see him one last time in 2023.

Two lovely people who gave time and effort to uplift the struggling souls who needed support and guidance to be free of their lives difficulties.
John was a gentle kind man. A blessing of continuous support to Lynn's opportunities to share her inspirational life story often.
He is free of health issues now. And Home with His LORD for his 1st Christmas in Heaven !
Loved you dear Friend.
