Karin Scheuch Obituary

Karin Scheuch, 82, of Missoula, Montana passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at home, of natural causes. Karin was the youngest child of Andrew and Wauneta Lind. She was born August 31, 1933, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Karin grew up in Seattle, Washington where she graduated from Roosevelt High School as a proud member of the Class of 1951. She continued her education at The University of Washington where she was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education. Karin began her career in teaching in the Edmonds School District where she taught 3rd Grade. Karin was a strong advocate of literacy and was an avid reader. She shared that passion with her young students, her children and her grandchildren. Karin was an avid skier, loved nature and wildlife, black Labrador Retrievers, Seattle sports teams, and had fond memories of summers on Bainbridge Island with her young family. She had a spirit of adventure that led her to a career in the travel business where she was a travel agent for 3 Coins Travel Agency. During this time she embarked on adventures to Alaska, China, and the Middle East. After retiring from TMP Worldwide, Karin continued her adventurous lifestyle where she took to the open roads of the United States and Canada on a multi-year R.V. journey with her beloved canine companion, Andie. She and Andie explored the great natural wonders from the coasts of Northern California, to the Pueblos of the Southwest and she truly enjoyed sharing her joys in life when visiting with her family and close friends. Karin was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dale, her sister, Francine whom she adored, and her brothers, Duane and Clayton whom she respected and were a steady source of companionship. Karin is survived by her loving children, Tracy (Tad) Kreager, Brad (Lisa) Scheuch and Gary (Jenny) Scheuch; her grandchildren, Emma, Kate and Charlie Scheuch and Kennedy Almanza. Karen also leaves behind her beloved nieces, nephew and grand-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 13, 2016, University Congregational Church of Missoula, MT. We were so blessed to have Karin and her family for neighbors during my childhood and on. She was a great friend to my mom and our family, and a bright spot in our neighborhood. I always loved when we would "do" something with Karin, whether it was going on an outing or going over for dinner and tea. She was sweet, caring, thoughtful and fun. I loved when they went on vacation and we got to care for their animals. I think now what an awesome mom she was for opening her home (and yard) to all of those cute creatures! I'm thankful for so many sweet memories of Karin; she really was a sweetie!

I did many outings with Karin and Marcia. They were my support group after divorce, and this support was while we were out and about -- walking Karin's dogs, at art fairs, and renting a cabin near Pt Townsend. She was so positive and was a great example of finding your own place in the world. I visited her in her RV on the Oregon coast and truly admired her for doing more and seeing more. I remember her collection of Tulip Time posters, and will continue to think of her when I look at the one I have framed.

What a lovely picture of Karin and favorite flannel shirts and always with a black lab. Karin had the most wonderful giggle, and always made her coffee using a percolator on the stove top...it was great !!

Dear Uncle Brad,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember when I used to come down to PA during the summer, and your mom used to watch us during the day. I remember she had so much energy and she was ALWAYS doing things with us. I remember we made pottery one day on a wheel and she was so funny when she was trying to get us to do chores. She always made me laugh. I was so comfortable with her and she treated me like she was my own grandmother. I also remember she baked really great dessert. I am so sad for you and I send my deepest condolences to you and your family. Love, Marc

Dear Brad and family,
I was so so sad to hear the news about your mother. I loved your mother very much. When I think of her, I remember a woman who was ALWAYS with a smile and boundless energy. I loved sitting and talking to her and listening to her stories and memories. Every time I would eat blueberry pie, I always thought of Karin and the time we spent at your house a few summers ago. I am so thankful that I had that time with her. I admired her energy, her loyalty to her family and her enthusiasm for life. When Charlie was a baby and she was with him, I would call your house and love to talk to her! She would always fill me in, with detail (!) all the little things Charlie was doing. She was truly happy and it came through every phone call. You were very lucky to have had all that time with her. Memories to cherish forever. She will be very missed, but never forgotten. I wish you and your family peace and strength during this time. We love you and are thinking of you. Love, Lenora and Joe
