Karyn Roth Obituary

Karyn E. (Vukonich/Valley) Roth

Karyn passed away January 25, 2012 at her family home in Snohomish, WA. She was born May 27, 1946 in Seattle, WA to John and Eileen Vukonich.
Karyn grew up in Alaska and Snohomish and graduated from Bothell High School in 1964. She met Ron Roth in high school and they were married on March 12, 1965.
Karyn and Ron had three sons together, Ronald "Travis", Steven Edward and David "Christopher". They remained her greatest joy throughout her life. Karyn and Ron divorced in 1971.
Karyn was working in a bank in 1971 when she met her second husband, Steve "Jake" Valley. They were married on December 20, 1975. Around this same time Karyn was diagnosed with cancer and fought hard to beat the disease. Her doctors called her recovery a "miracle". Karyn and Steve lived in their Lynnwood, WA home for many years where they enjoyed gardening, fishing, music, traveling and home improvement projects. Karyn worked most of her life as a book keeper until she went back to Florist school to pursue her love of flower arranging.
In 1998, Karyn was working in a florist shop in Seattle when she suffered a series of strokes and spent many weeks in the hospital. These strokes led to the medical difficulties that she battled the rest of her life.
Some of Karyn's favorite things were candy making, crafting and the kitties that she loved and spoiled throughout her life.
Anyone who knew Karyn knew that she was "Queen of the Glue Gun" due to her beautiful gift wrapping, bow making and the wonderful doo-dads that came on every present.
Karyn was preceded in death by her son's father, Ron Roth in September, 1993; her father, John Vukonich in December, 1999; her daughter-in-law, Melissa Roth in February, 2010; and her mother, Eileen Vukonich in September, 2011.
Karyn is survived by her aunt, Shirley Dimmit and family; brother, Carl "Johnny" Vukonich; special friend and sister-in-law, Elaine Vukonich; nephew, Reece Vukonich; her sons, Travis Roth and daughter-in-law, Rachel Barth; Steven Roth, Christopher Roth; and her grandsons that she loved dearly, Alexander Roth and Austin Roth; also Austin's mom, Jennifer.
She will be forever missed by Steve Valley who remained her best friend through the end of her life and his daughter, Tammy Valley. She is also survived by many more friends and family members and her special kitty, Princess Sierra.
The family would like to extend a thank you to all the doctors and medical staff that helped Karyn throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held in Karyn's honor Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at The Maltby Congregational Church, where the family attended services for many years.
The memorial will be followed by a reception at the Church and then a graveside interment at Floral Hills, where Karyn and her parents, John and Eileen will all be laid to rest.

I went to high school with Ron and Karyn and through Ron met their boys. Chris and my son Billy spent time together riding their motorcycles when they were young. Steven and Travis came along as well. My children Natalee, Shellee and Billy are very sad that the boys have lost their mother who was the "rock" and their father as well. Ron and I were friends grade school on since he was one of the few kids our age that lived within the area we rode our horses in. Was wonderful to meet he and Karyn's children and see both of them in each one. Nancy Nolf, Natalee, Shellee, and Billy Nienau
