Kenneth Wilmer Obituary

March 7, 1956-Dec. 21, 2016 Our beloved Ken passed away at home due to a tragic accidental fall. Ken grew up in Centreville, Maryland. He graduated from Queen Anne's High School in 1974. After graduating Ken joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served 20 years, retiring in 1998. He married his first wife, Lisa in 1985. That marriage ended in 1999. Ken met the Love of his Life and best friend, Holly Burton, in 2002. They married and remained so until his death. Ken loved restoring his 1978 Chevy C-10 pickup truck, Legos, FOOD, Oregon Coast road trips, garage sales, Star Wars, anything Sci-Fi, old T.V. sitcoms, vacations, building computers, working in the yard, going out to eat, Disney movies, cartoons, day trips going anywhere, his music played LOUD, helping people and never missed an opportunity to smile. Ken's unselfish kindness and easy going nature made him loved by all who crossed paths with him. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for anyone. There wasn't anywhere he went, he didn't know someone. Ken has left behind his loving wife, Holly; mother, Barbara; sisters, Sybil, Charlene, Dwane, brother Bruce; sons, Matthew (Kristin) Patrick and Nicholas; stepdaughters, Heidi and Erika (Matt); grandchildren, Kamryn, Jensen, Samara, Hendrik, Solveig and Sawyer. Ken was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth and sister, Penny. We love you Papa Ken and will miss you all the days of our lives! Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11 o'clock a.m. at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, WA. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Potluck Luncheon to follow at 1pm at 92nd Street Church of Christ, 4226- 92nd St. N.E. Marysville, WA. Ken we miss you bruddah! I feel blessed to have had you as a friend. Even though I didn't like working as a vendor in Lowe's very much, I did make a good friend there. One thing I can say about you, is you are 2 good 2 be 4 gotten.

Shipmate it was great knowing you. You were always there when I Needed someone to talk to. You was always there to guide me on the right path when I was having problems or when I was in trouble. It was great to have served with you. We sure had a lot of laughs together. You will always be remembered...

When you first meet Ken, it's like listening to a catchy new song on the radio. You don't just learn to like it. You like it right away and you want to listen to it more and more. He was that kind of song. He was a friend who I only knew for a very short time but whenever he spoke about a topic whether it be cars, trucks, computers, his time in the Navy or whatever, he did so with so much enthusiasm and conviction. He was excited when I told him we'd go for a ride in my GTO and would even let him drive it but it never happened. So his picture will be on the sun visor whenever it's driven. It was that part of his character that would make you feel like you've known him for a long time. I only wish that time was true.
I have no doubt that Ken was that catchy number one hit song to those who knew him. He's going to be missed by so many.
I love you buddy.

To this day we still expect to see Ken when we come to the house. Ken was a very caring man that left a lasting impression everyone he meet.im sure he made the same impression on those he has met in heaven. You are missed Ken. Know you are having smooth sailing and calm weather.

I met you once, but knew you well through face book. You had such high values and such good Christian faith. Nice to be certain to know you are in a better place because of your shared beliefs! Holly was blessed to have you in her life. See you some day, Love in Christ! Margaret Brossman, a great gramma to Sawyer.

Words cannot say how shocked and sadden I am. As service buddies I knew Ken in VA-52 and then in HSL-37. We always shard a good laugh and funny story. He spoke to me of his challenges and his happiness too. Of his happiness, Holly you were his joy and to hear him speak of you, you knew he loved you deeply and completely. We all long for someone to love us as he loved you. I will miss you my friend and I will always regret us not getting together more often than we did. I love you Ken, you are and always will be my friend. Love you man.

When I first heard about Ken's death I found myself crying throughout the day and night. I just couldn't believe that Ken was gone. My heart was hurting and I knew how hard this would be for Holly and Ken's family and friends. My last memories of Ken were of him and my husband Don swapping Navy stories at Christina's wedding and sitting at the campfire up at the lake property. Ken was an incredibly genuine and sweet man. I hope that Ken and Don are making more memories in Heaven. Our Angels watching over us.

We met at Big 5 Sporting Goods. We were both managers and instantly hit it off because of our connection to the Navy. You were at my badge pinning in July and we planned to get together soon. I am so sorry that we didn't make it happen. I will miss our friendship until we meet again. Anchors Aweigh my friend. RIP

My Condolences to my cousins Patrick & Matthew. My Aunt Barbara & the rest of the Wilmer Family. I will always remember the time when Kenny we stationed at Moffett Field in Mt View CA and lived with us(his Uncle Rudy). Kenny & Carol taught me to ride my first bike while they lived with us. Our trips to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. I was just there this weekend & the pretzel guy is still in the same spot. I had a pretzel with mustard just for you. My Mom missed her Christmas card this year. But we had a good time remember you this year & all her stories. Thank you for never forgetting her. Thank you for being the best cousin anybody could ask for. Your California family will miss you. With all our Love.

My Dear Sweet Angel!
Giving you back to God has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do. You were my strength and my calm...a prayer answered everyday I got to share with you.
I would give anything to hold you again, look into those beautiful eyes and kiss your precious lips.
You will be my One True Love, Forever and A Day.
I pray you hold me close to you with your beautiful Angel Wings until it's my day to be with you again!
I MISS YOU, BABY...
