Michael Brandt Obituary

Michael Allen Brandt

Michael Allen Brandt, 50 of Tulalip, WA, passed away on April 29, 2013. He was born on July 14, 1962 in Burien, WA. He was the son of Leah Ann and Rusty
Bowen, and lived in Tulalip.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Julie Brandt, and his three children, Elisha, Richie, and Monique.
After high school Michael moved to Sun Valley and worked as a Chef in the Lead Dining Room at the
famous Elk Horn Lodge. He was an avid skier. He not only enjoyed the skiing, but the excellent food, and occasionally, a celebrity he might just bump into. This experience made him an outstanding Chef in his own right.
Michael enlisted in the Marine Corp and was stationed in San Diego, California 1984, Platoon 1127. He was then sent to Okinawa in charge of the Motor Pool. He reenlisted in 1987 and was eventually sent to Quantico, Virginia for Marine Security Guard training, after which time he was
stationed in Chad, Africa as a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassy. His next duty was at the American Embassy in Oslo, Norway as a Marine Security Guard. After his duty there he chose to go to Mountain Warfare Training Center based in Topaz Lake, California, next to Lake Tahoe, until his Honorary Discharge at the end of 10 years
Service. He then returned to the Pacific NW, attended college and became a very successful Broker. He initially worked for Associated Financial Consultants in Everett, then moved on to AG Edwards of Edmonds.
Michael married Julie Ann Vinall on October 06, 2003; they eloped, very much in love, in Reno, NV.
He leaves his three children, Elisha, Richie and Monique; four grandchildren, Olivia, Alissa, Kaylee and Hayden; his sisters,
Michelle Clark, Rebecca Goodwin of Idaho, Cathy Hes and Carolyn Lovett, both of California; parents, Leah Ann and Rusty Bowen of Oak Harbor; and several close cousins and family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Brandt; and his daughter,
Camilla Brandt.
He also spent a considerable amount of time giving back to his community.
Michael was very involved with the YMCA for several years, in many facets, including being part of the Board in the 90s. He also had a passion for Theatre. He belonged to the NW Savoyards and performed in a number of plays. He had Lead or leading roles in the Pirates of Penzance and Guys & Dolls, in which he played Guy Masterson; also, Gilbert & Sullivan Society Ruddigore. He also thoroughly enjoyed hang gliding, motorcycles (specifically Harleys), rock climbing and hiking. He truly enjoyed the outdoors. He climbed the Enchantments with his father. He also returned
to Africa where he accomplished climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. He also enjoyed bicycling, and loved to dance with his wife. In his down time there was nothing he liked more than simply cuddling and watching a good movie in his last years.
Visitation at Solie Funeral Home will be on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Also Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon.

Memories and Condolences
for Michael Brandt

Not sure what to say?

May 16, 2013

I am deeply saddened by Mike's death.
I remember him on a special occasion in Yakima(I think it was his grandparents 50th) so handsome and proud in his Marine uniform. I always enjoyed visiting with him at the Labor day parties. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers.

Condolences to Mike and his family. He was a great buddy to our little "gang" in middle school and high school. We had some some great misadventures together with MK, Big Ed, Smitty, and the rest of us goofballs. He had a great life, and I'm glad I was a part of his. RIP, my friend.

Julie, I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Mike passing on to say the least. I first met Mike back in high school, along with the other guys in the 'Riverside'. He was always one of the 'good' guys that one liked to have as a friend, and like a good wine, he got better as he aged. I hadn't seen much of him for many years, but when he and I would bump in to eachother, he was the same Mike that I remembered from school. I was so happy for you two when I heard that you had gotten together, you definately made a good couple! Our thoughts are with you and the family at this difficult time and pray that God will provide you with comfort and peace in knowing where Mike is now. It will take time, but you will reach a point where you will be able to accept and live on with the wonderful memories of such a wonderful person. God Bless you.

As kids, I have many great memories of trying to keep up with Michael's energy during our summer camping trips, goofing off as we traveled in the camper, seeing who could catch the most fish with dad and hiking the many trails around Spirit Lake. As adults,
I always admired Michael for his continued sense of adventure and was constantly surprised by the layers of skill and talent he possessed in so many different forms including his musical theater skills. One summer, I was lucky enough to go with mom to see his wonderful performance in Pirates of Penzance and will always hold that memory dear, among many others. My heart aches with the loss of such a special person.

Our loving thoughts are sent out to support everyone whose hearts are aching as they morn the loss of such a skilled, talented, charismatic, and caring man.
May all of our hearts heal with time, loving support and fond memories.
All our Love,
Dolf, Cathy, Justin and Casey Hes

It is a shock to hear of Mike's passing. He was one of the most upbeat people you would ever want to meet and would try new things with great enthusiasm such as joining our group for STP and RSVP bike rides, and showing off his exceptional skiing ability. We are all saddened by the untimely passing of our former co-worker. Our sympathies to his family.
