On October 27, 2022, Mike passed away from complications of congestive heart failure. He was a dedicated father, loving grandpa, and faithful public servant. He lived a life defined by humility and hard work, putting his whole heart into everything he did and giving his whole heart to the people he loved.
His greatest love was his family - related and chosen. He had a passion for woodworking, cooking and gardening. His family and friends will cherish the handcrafted items he built them as well as the memories of his hospitality and great gatherings.
Mike loved planning adventures with his granddaughters and constantly looked for ways to one-up his grandpa game. He became an adept texter, chatting with his granddaughters daily. They'll miss Camp Grandpa each Summer and all the silly gifts for every holiday.
His second family was firefighting. A good friend in the fire service said, "Mike is responsible for developing a whole generation of fire fighters in Snohomish County." He had a lifetime of service in the First Aid community serving both Marysville and Everett.
He began his firefighting career as a volunteer with the Snohomish County District 12 (now Marysville) in 1972 before joining the department full-time in 1977. He served as a volunteer for decades in various roles, from public education to battalion chief.
In 1978, Mike joined the Everett Fire Department where he would spend the next 25 years of his career. Mike was promoted to Paramedic in August 1983 and was part of the first class of Everett Firefighters to be trained as Paramedics at Harborview Medical Center. He was proud to be part of this groundbreaking group and remained friends with members of this class throughout his life.
Mike worked hard during his career and was promoted to Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services in 1995. He returned to Captain a year later because he loved being on the front lines and working with a crew and retired in 2003.
To say he loved being a firefighter/paramedic was an understatement. Deeply committed to his work, Mike was known for teaching and developing other firefighters and EMTs in Snohomish County. Even after his retirement, he continued to mentor, advise and as one friend said, "nudge us in the right direction."
Mike was born in The Dalles, OR and started his own family in Marysville, WA and preceded in death by his parents and siblings, his sister Terri (Ron) Boise, and brothers Steve (Mary) Lambert and Danny Lambert.
He leaves behind his son, Greg (Jenifer) Lambert and daughter, Tami Lambert (Paul Kurrle). His greatest joy was being a grandpa to Kayla Fast, Allison Fast and Siena Kurrle. His family is deeply grateful for the love and support of Rex and Diane Tucker, their children, Jeff Tucker, Jody Ward and Jason Tucker and their families who were "chosen family" to Mike for decades.
In keeping with Mike's wishes, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Medic One Foundation or Everett Gospel Mission.
A celebration of his life will be held from 3-6pm on November 22, 2002, at the Hotel Indigo in Everett. For more information on the event please visit https://bit.ly/MikeLambert.

Mike was a terrific man! He was so dedicated to the fire service, he loved his kids and grandchildren so much, and also the Tucker family with all his heart! He was a great prankster, friend, and taught me patience...I'm not a great student, but I admired his way of taking a step back and looking at the big picture of a situation and taking a little time to respond. I will miss Mike very much!

Rest in Peace my friend; you've earned it. Once again, thanks for standing up for us at our wedding. It worked.
