Paul Martinis Obituary

Paul M. Martinis

Paul M. Martinis, age 75, passed away on July 13, 2003 at his home in Everett.
He was born August 9, 1927 in Komiza, Croatia to Matt Martinis and Ivka Zuanic. During WWII, he spent two years in a refugee camp in Egypt. In 1945, he immigrated to the United States where he began a career in commercial fishing. Early years were spent fishing for his Uncle Paul and Father Matt. Later he purchased his own purse seiner, the "Do-Ro", and enjoyed many years as an outstanding fisherman in Alaska and Puget Sound.
Paul lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, making several trips to visit his birthplace in Croatia. He was also a life member of Knights of Columbus.
Paul is survived by his wife, Delores (Zuvela) Martinis; daughters, Joanne Martinis and Stephanie Jones; grandchildren, Rachel and Alex Martinis; step mother, Freida Martinis; brother, Ivo Martinis; sister, Vesna Slavish; stepsisters, Karen Adamson and Margaret Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his brother Vince Martinis.
A memorial reception will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. in Henson Hall at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2619 Cedar Street, Everett, WA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
