Pauline P. Werlich

1926 - 2016

(1926-2016) Pauline Pearl Phillips was born in Larimore, N.D., on November 17, 1926. She graduated from Larimore H.S. in 1944 and took her nurses training through the U.S. Cadet nursing program, graduating in 1947. She moved to Seattle, Wash. where her older sister, Inez, lived with her family. Polly worked as a hospital nurse and later as an office nurse for Dr. Tate Mason. Polly met Ed Werlich, a freshman dental student in early 1950. They were married in December 1952. Polly and Ed opened their dental practice in Port Angeles, Wash. Polly was the receptionist, chairside assistant, and bookkeeper. Ed earned his orthodontic degree in 1962 and they opened their Everett office. Polly and Ed were blessed with two daughters, Amy and Jean (Jonathan) Way, and two wonderful granddaughters, Maggie and Abby. Polly was a stay-at-home mother and was active in the girl's school years, receiving the Golden Acorn Award in the Everett school system. Polly also received the Carol Stuchell Award for her work with the Providence Children's Association. Polly played soccer into her fifties, loved skiing, and was a master of cross-stitch. Ed and Polly enjoyed retirement with stays at their river cabin, trips to North Dakota, the East Coast, the Bahamas, and memorable trips to Europe and New Zealand. Polly's life was an example of one well lived with great love, family and friends. She was preceded in death by eight weeks by her dearly beloved Ed. She will be missed. A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Everett UCC 2624 Rockefeller, Everett, WA 98201.
