Randy Celori Obituary

Randy Celori passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 9th, following 40-years of devoted service service to his country and his community. Randy retired from the US Army with the rank of Sgt. 1st Class in the military police. He was stationed around the world with tours including USMA West Point, Germany, and Puerto Rico. Randy received numerous commendations, including the 1983 United States Army Europe Soldier of the Year. Upon retirement from the military, Randy joined the City of Lake Stevens, Washington Police Department. After 17 years of service, the last 11 as Chief of Police, he retired. While there he directed the certification of the agency and overseeing the establishment of the current police station. Randy was also member of the Lake Stevens Rotary Club for 5 years, helping to establish the Senior Center at Eagle Ridge Park. Afterwards, Randy became the Lake Stevens School District's Safety, Security and Health Specialist. Serving 7 years, he pioneered the district's health, safety and security tools and practices and helped coordinate the creation of the Washington Education Safety and Emergency Managers Association (WESEMA). Outside of work, Randy was a fierce Green Bay Packer fan, and enjoyed spending his time on home improvement projects for his family and friends. His garage door was always open for anyone to stop by for a few drinks and a good time. After retiring for good in June of 2021, Randy settled down in his new home in York, SC with his son Matthew. Where he was able to be closer to his family, being only a short golf cart ride away from his nephew Dan, his wife, Tori, and their daughters. Randy is survived by his sons Anthony and Matthew, granddaughter Reine, brothers Steve and Terry, sisters Patti and Debbie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There will be two events in honor of Randy, which all are welcome to attend: A memorial service will be held in Clover, South Carolina on July 16th, 1:00 to 3:00pm, at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, followed by a neighborhood celebration at his home. Another Celebration of Life will be in Lake Stevens, Washington on August 5, in the Sawyers Room at The Mill, 5-6:30pm. Doors will open at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund at nleomf.org.

We are very sorry to learn of Randy's unexpected passing. Randy was very well respected by so many of his law enforcement peers, a consummate professional and great friend. Those who know him well know just how dedicated he was to his city and his troops while serving the Lake Stevens Police Department. We thank you for your selfless service. Rest in peace brother in blue.
