Richard Johnson Obituary

Richard "Dick" M. Johnson Richard "Dick" M. Johnson, 82, of Marysville, WA passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014. He was born to the late Bertha Hain and Lawrence Johnson, January 5, 1932 in Fargo, North Dakota. Dick resided in Fargo until the age of five when they moved to Kirkland, WA. He attended schools in Kirkland through 11th grade and transferred to Everett High where he graduated in 1951. Upon graduating, he held jobs with American Ice and Simpson Lee Paper Company. After Simpson Lee shut down he was employed by the City of Everett where he retired in January of 1997. While working at Simpson Lee, Dick met Lavon Wales and they wed on February 23 1963. They started their life together in Everett, but shortly after purchased a home in Marysville where they resided for 41 years. Dick is survived by his wife, Lavon, of 51 years; and their three sons: Larry (Sherry) Johnson of Marysville, Brian Johnson (Rebecca Flick) of Lake Stevens, WA and Brad (Teri) Johnson of Lake Stevens. He is also survived by five grandchildren. A special thank you to the Hospice team, Kathleen (R.N.), John (social worker), Loren (chaplain), Kim (personal care) and Tom who faithfully brought Dick a weekly milkshake and read the sports page with him for two years. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday May 31, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Marysville. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.

I remember Dick as a good man who worked on my father' s crew (Howard) at the Everett water department. He had a great sense of humor. I last talked to him at our dentist office waiting room several years ago. Prayers to the family.
