Robert Dutton Obituary

Dr. Robert E. Dutton

Robert Dutton was born December 27, 1919 in Nampa, Idaho and passed away on November 12, 2008. He spent the early part of his life in Leavenworth, WA, and Wenatchee, WA, where his father was a dentist. He married Doris Peach in June 1941 and joined the Army Air Corps the same year. After the war, he studied at the University of Washington Dental School and graduated in 1950 in the very first dental class at UW. He practiced children's dentistry in Wenatchee and Everett until 1988.
In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snow skiing, and had a lifelong love of jazz and playing the piano. After retirement, Bob pursued his love of philosophy, reading and writing about the evolution of thought and human behavior. He also enjoyed gardening and grew hundreds of geraniums each year in his green house.
He leaves his loving wife, Doris of 67 years; their two daughters, Josie Clark, of Everett and Barbara Matter and husband, George Bush, of Port Townsend, WA; granddaughters, Jenny Matter, of Alaska, Molly Matter and Becky Matter, of Seattle, WA, and Kippy Irwin and husband, Scott Irwin, of Seattle.
A memorial of his life will be planned at a later date.
Contributions in his memory can be donated to the Hospice of Snohomish County.

I remember Bob sitting by the plate glass window in the living room - he so enjoyed looking at the birds and squirrels and the yard. My condolences to the family.

This was my very first dentist when I was 5 years old and my family had just relocated from SOuth Dakota to Everett just off Beverly Lane in 1967. I will never forget his kindness and biting his finger once - then I would see Dr. D at church on Sundays at St. Mary Magdaline and I would pray for that biting sin - LOL! I even made him an I'm sorry card.... Bless his heart - he taught a lot of us kids how to respect our teeth (5 in just my family) and for that I am thankful! RIP Dr. D!!!
