Mr. Rule I looked you up after seeing you forgave that man and I´m sitting here crying because you´re gone. I didn´t even know you, but I can rest assured that you are with God with your daughter. I wish I knew somebody like you because you were such a good person, and so few of you left!

As someone who has traveled around the states a lot I would have been absolutely honored to have come across someone such as yourself. I´ve seen your story plenty of times over, you were an exceptional human being Mr. Rule. Your love and compassion for others even in the face of adversity is absolutely admirable. You very much remind me of my grandfather. May both you and him rest easy in the arms of angels, you´ve both more than earned your place in Gods kingdom. My condolences and best wishes go out to your family as well. May they go about in peace, love, and solace knowing you are back home with our Father in heaven.

The example of forgiveness that Mr. Rule demonstrated that day in the court room is so powerful... I've never seen anything like it. After seeing that video, I wanted to search him out and meet him. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his family. It takes a great man with a great faith to forgive the way he did. I wish I could have known him and thanked him for his example. What an awesome, awesome example.

I'm So sorry to you all for your loss. I am quite sure it was a tremendous loss. Mr. Rule was the most pure example of forgiveness I have EVER witnessed and my inspiration in that regard.... when I try to share the precept that we must forgive to be forgiven when we face Messiah with others, I will OFTEN share his testimony. May he rest in peace.

Each year I teach young people from different backgrunds about the christian faith in our church, where I work as a pastor. And of course I also teach about forgiveness.
And every year I show them the little movie on Youtube where Mr. Rule shows his faith and give his forgivness.
The young people are just stunned and even the young boys who are making fun of everuthing else are just sillent.
Its so powerfull and I hope that I will not only learn others to be like Mr. Rule but I hope I myself will learn to forgive as Mr. Rule showed us.

One of my sons worked as a Santa Claus photographer a quarter century ago. He remembers how even the most fearful child seemed to resonate and respond favorably to this true son of St. Nicholas+

I hope this page is kept up. I think that, for many years, people will see the video of Mr. Rule forgiving his daughter's killer. They will look him up. They will want to tell him that he committed an amazing act. And they will find this obituary. They will be sad that they can't tell him in person or over the phone or in an email. So they will leave notes like this one.
Mr. Rule, the part of this world that knows you is in awe of you.

Mr. Rule, I just saw the video about how you forgave a person who did so much harm to you and other people. I saw a loving, kind person with a heart of gold. I saw Mr. Rule forgive a man who did not deserve it, and I was so inspired by it. If he can forgive the murderer of his young daughter, I know we all can forgive those that have hurt us. Mr. Rule was definitely Christ-like.

This man is still touching strangers hearts in a way he never realized I am sure. I wanted to say how terrible sorry I am to his loved ones for their loss and how he is still impacting people in such a positive way after his death. He has been an inspiration to me.

Our son worked with Bob at the Everett Mall twenty years ago and remembered the great soul that warmed many a heart then...little knowing is own broken heart that he chose to mend with a huge portion of the forgiving love of God. What a great soul!
