Rollin Delmar Fleming
Rollin Delmar Fleming, 95, passed away June 6, 2006. He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a man who was defined by the land; he farmed wheat in Colorado and owned a successful dairy farm in Monroe, Washington, for 29 years. He lived in the Monroe area since 1935.
Delmar was an active contributor to his community. Some of the activities and awards included serving as a 4-H leader; member of Monroe School Board, President in 1959; member of International Order of Odd Fellows, IOOF; member of Snohomish County Dairy Herd Improvement Association "400 Club" since 1948, and received an award for ten years of membership; member of Tualco Grange No. 284 since 1945 and received their Golden Sheaf Award; and received the Monroe Public School District Award of Service in April 1963. In addition, Delmar was an honored member of the "dice throwing" group at one of our local restaurants. Two of Delmar's greatest attributes were his honesty and integrity.
Delmar married Elsie Greathouse in 1935, and they were a couple until Elsie died in 1981. He married Edith Dwyer in 1983 and they were happily married for the past 23 years.
Delmar is survived by his wife, Edith; two children, Dennis Fleming, and his wife, Kate, and Margaret Nielsen, and her husband, Larry; one step-daughter, Lynn Dwyer; ten grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Delmar was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; son, Ronald; two grandsons, Richard and Bill Fleming; and step-son, Robert Dwyer.
Delmar's family is especially thankful to Mariana and Derrell, owners of the Duvall Adult Family Home. A special thank-you is extended to Claudia for her compassionate care. Group Health Hospice provided much needed information and nurturing to Delmar and his family as well.
