Roy Frederick Dahlgren was born April 2, 1935 in Seattle, Washington. He passed on September 19, 2023 in Kenmore, Washington.
Roy attended Fobes, North Junior, and Everett High Schools. Upon graduating in 1953 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served as radio operator in the Korean War, and honorably discharged as Sargeant in 1956. The saying, "Once a Marine, always a Marine!" personified his life. Semper Fi!
He married his sweetheart, Marlene Barnes, and raised their 3 children in Lake Stevens, Washington. The discipline instilled by the Corp was rumored to contribute to his reputation as the strictest Dad in Vista Park. Oohrah!
Roy was a proud Swede who passed cherished traditions to his children and grandchildren. A performer at heart, he enjoyed harmonizing with friends in the Windjammer Barbershop Chorus, and instilled a love of the Pacific Northwest in his kids by camping, fishing, crabbing, clam digging, and foraging for berries and mushrooms. His manicured vegetable gardens were tended by his "troops" while the other neighborhood kids played.
He retired as a journeyman electrician with the IBEW #191 in 2000, enjoying life with his wife, Pepper, at the Stump Ranch on Callow Road, taking winter vacations in sunny Mexico, socializing at the V.F.W. Post #2100, and cheering on the Hawks at the Kingdome.
Roy was preceded in death by parents Warner and Ivy, sister Annette, brothers Raymond and Charles, wife Marlene and son Daniel; and wife Isabelle (Pepper).
He is survived by daughter Linda (Brian) Ramberg, son Evan (Dawna) Dahlgren, stepson Ken (Chris) Kerr and family; grandchildren Danielle Dahlgren and Rebecca Ramberg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy entered heaven while residing at Love Care Adult Family Home. Special thanks to Adis and Mimi for loving him as family with God's grace, music, dancing and humor. Bless you!
