Ruth Smeltzer Obituary

Ruth Smeltzer

Ruth Smeltzer, 91, of Marysville, passed away on October 4, 2004.
She was born in Montrose, CO and was the daughter and only child of August and Gertrude Carpenter Prott.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Fox; and her son, James Wesley Fox.
Ruth and her family moved to the Northwest in 1949, where she lived in the Edmonds, Everett and Marysville areas.
She often spoke of the challenging times of raising her family while her husband was away during the Second World War. She also would reminisce about living in a tent area with other families whose husbands worked in the Uranium mines in Uravan, CO prior to moving to the Northwest. Ruth loved to cook and always looked forward to family gatherings on holidays, birthdays and other special events.
She enjoyed hobbies, such as tin crafting, sewing and knitting. During her later years, she looked forward to her weekly visits to the Everett Senior Center to play bingo and associate with her friends, who lived there. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fox Fowler; son-in-law Richard L. Fowler and daughter Beverly Jane Fox; grandchildren, Denise Rowsell, Deborah Fowler, Richard Fowler Jr., Sandra Walker, Laura Lee Bennett, Steven Rundquist, Alex Rundquist (deceased); great-grandchildren, Jason Rowsell, Lindsey Rowsell, Erik Coopersmith, Robert Coopersmith, Melinda Coopersmith, Tambra Bennett, Liselle Bennett, Curtis Bennett, Candice Bennett and Ammon Bennett (deceased). There is also one great-great grandchild, Joshua Rodgers.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Grandview Village, the Marysville Care Center and Providence Hospice for their loving care and support of Ruth and the family.
A family memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Providence Hospice.
