Sharon McCrossen Obituary

Sharon Lee McCrossen, age 82, passed away in her Everett home on August 31st, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. She never gave up her fight and worked to stay with her loved ones as long as she could. Before leaving her earthly body to dance among the stars, she fought and survived cancer in 2010, 2011, 2021, and 2023.

Sharon, affectionately known as "Momma Shen" and the "Dancing Queen," was born in Seattle, Washington on September 26th, 1941. The beloved daughter of John and Irma Sutton, she spent most of her young life in the Seattle neighborhoods of Greenwood and Ballard, where she also attended elementary, middle, and high school. She had three siblings named Robert Vig, Doreen Vig, and Donna Corning. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, John S. McCrossen. The couple married in 1969 and were together for more than fifty-five years. They had four children together: John, Lisa, Brian, and Kristi McCrossen.

Sharon was self-employed, running a daycare out of her home when Brian and Kristi were young. She was a beloved lunchroom substitute with the Everett School District, where the children lovingly nicknamed her the "Soup Lady." She also spent time working with Catholic Community Service. She was very athletic, winning awards for swimming, dancing, and racing. She always had a passion and love for animals and nature.

Sharon felt blessed to have so many friends and a large family. She had a magnetic personality and magical energy within her. This helped her to make friends easily, beloved friends that lasted a lifetime. She treasured her adventures with her husband and loved ones, especially camping and trips to Hawaii and Mexico. Her family was the center of her life, loving them fiercely and without judgment.

She leaves behind a flock of people that love her, including her husband John, daughters Lisa and Kristi, son John and his long-time partner Deb, son Brian and daughter-in-law Michelle, her many grandchildren; Emanda, Kyrsha, Mathew, Aubrey, Cameron, Kyia and Ryan, as well as great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was also adored by her own grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and those she adopted and made her "chosen family." She was the matriarch of her family, filling her home with love, respect, understanding, joy, kindness, music, dancing and laughter. She was a beautiful person who led a beautiful life.

So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She always made me feel like family all those years we hung out at the house on Terrace Drive. Your family holds a special place in our hearts as you were such wonderful neighbors to my grandma. Our parents gave us such amazing upbringings and our moms were the center of that. Thoughts and prayers to all the family and all that love her. Memories will eventually replace grief. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Mike Schireman and Family
