Stephen Thorsen Obituary

Stephen Mark Thorsen

Stephen Mark Thorsen, 51, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, April 29, 2007 in Mukilteo, WA, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer diagnosed January 2007. Born in 1955, in Bremerton, WA, to Clifford and Shirlie Thorsen.
He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1973. He served in the Army for two years at Fort Huachuca, AZ, as a Dental Hygienist and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate. While attending the University of Washington he worked in the Periodontal Clinic at the U of W. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1986 with a BS in Pharmacy. He worked in the field of Pharmacy and then joined Verizon in the sales department. He continued to work at Verizon until his death.
Steve had a profound personal relationship with God. His favorite verse was John 3:17 "God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
He will be remembered for his fun loving spirit. He enjoyed organizing events and trips. He had a phenomenal memory of trivia, which included sports, old movies and you name it… He was Seahawk season ticket holder. He and his son, Bjorn, attended the Super Bowl XL in Detroit in February 2006. We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda (Duncan) Thorsen. He leaves his two teenage children, Bjorn, who attends the University of Virginia and Karin, a junior at Kamiak High School. He also leaves behind his mother, Shirlie Thorsen; brothers, Erik (Ardie), Paul (Donna), and David (Sheri); and sister, Patricia (Richard) Foss, all of Poulsbo, WA. Survivors also include many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a friend of Bill W.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave., Everett. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007, at Hope Church at Silver Lake, 11329 SE 23rd Drive, Everett. Special Thanks to Dr. Congdon and his staff for their medical care over the last months of his life.

Even though I haven't seen Steve in many years, I have many happy (mostly funny!) memories of him as the older brother of one of my best friends. My heart goes out to the whole Thorsen family.

We are very saddend to here of the passing of one of our friends from pharmacy school. "THOR" (we called him THOR because we coudn't make up our minds if he was Steve or Mark) was a good buddy for all three years of school. He always had a smile and a great story to tell. Our thoughts to his family-he was a great light for us as we are sure he was to all he met.

I give my deepest sympathy to the whole family for your loss. Steve was a loving and caring man from what I knew of him. He loved to tell jokes and he had a gentle side to him that touched me soon after I had met him. I know Steve is in a better place now where pain is not an option. He will be missed by alot of people.

My heart breaks for the whole Thorsen family. Steve was truly a light in my life and a human being gifted with the ability to affect other people through sharing his life experiences. My grief is deep, so I cannot fathom what it must be like for those closest to him. It is my belief he is free from pain and in his rightful place in heaven. I hope your faith, family, and friends will provide some support amd solace in this saddest of times.
