Ted Peddycord Obituary

Ted was born at the Monroe Logging Camp in Snohomish County to Ted and Mabel Peddycord at the height of the Great Depression, a fact that molded his life. He graduated from Granite Falls High School, then served in the Korean War. After his service, Ted married Barbara L. Dams and they shared life and love together for the next 56 years. After the loss of Barbara, Ted was given a second chance for love and joy with the joining of his high school friend, Lonnie Selden. Ted graduated from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry, in 1961 and practiced in Everett, WA for 35 years. Highlights in life were the joy and interaction of family, friends, and patients. He had a lifelong thirst for knowledge and learning and hopes he left the world a little better place. Ted's parents, sister Patricia, and wife Barbara preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wonderful children, son Dan and wife Mel Peddycord, son Shannon and wife Cheryl Peddycord, and daughter Paula and husband Gil McNabb, and his seven grandchildren, Cameron, Colleen, Caitlyn, Ty, Keely, Hayden, and Ian, who were the pride and joy of his life. Ted loved to give his grandchildren rides on his tractor when they were little. Ted would like to thank his family, many teachers, friends, helpers, and patients for all the interactions that so enriched his life. He hopes Billy Dozer will finally reach perfection in his bowling quest. His family will miss him dearly as he was a good, honest, and decent man and a loving father, friend, and husband. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Granite Falls City Hall and Historical Museum. March 18, 1932 - April 27, 2022

Thank you all for your kinds words. He was truly a good and decent man - always the gentleman. My biggest fan. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday while living unassisted in his home and with his mind still sharp as ever. He will be deeply missed.

Ted and I were classmates from 3rd grade thru our graduation in 1950. He truly was a good and true friend. We worked on many class projects and class reunions together. When Ted and Barbara were married, my son was 3 years and he served as ring bearer for their wedding. For me, Ted passing is like losing my brother. I will miss him.

Danny, Shannon and Paula - I am so sorry to hear your father passed away. Rich and I were lucky enough to run into him at Fanny´s last fall when we were visiting my parents. He was just as warm and kind as I´d remembered, a real gentleman. I have to share a great memory of your dad....Right before we got married 38 years ago, I received a white box filled with large (and I mean LARGE), irregular chunks of amazing chocolate. The simple card wished Rich and I the best and was signed with "Dr" and then a drawing of a tooth. Your dad remembered my obsession with chocolate and must have got a kick out of the irony of my dentist indulging my chocolate addiction. We received many wonderful gifts but none as special to me as that particular one. He was a great dentist, neighbor....and father, to have raised such good kids. My thoughts are with you.

I truly loved Dr. Peddycord. Not just because was the best dentist that walked on this earth but because he was so kind and thoughtful too. My heart broke when he announced his retirement. I was going to miss seeing both him and Barb. I had the most wonderful luck maybe 5 or 6 years ago to run into Ted at a restaurant in Snohomish. I knew that face right away. I got up and met him before he left. I explained who I was and he remembered. It felt good to shake his hand and see his smile. He will be missed but I know he's going to a better place. Rest in Peace, Dr. Peddycord.
