Violet Bailey Obituary

Violet B. Bailey

Violet B. Bailey of Everett passed away May 18, 2013. She was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on May 11, 1917 to Charles and Iona Howard. She was the youngest of six children. Violet was raised by her maternal grandparents in Palouse, Washington where she attended schools in Palouse and Spokane.
While visiting relatives in Canada, she met her future husband, Glenn Bailey, whom she married in 1937. They made their home in a small farming community called Leslieville in Alberta, Canada. There she helped her young husband run a thousand acre wheat farm and started a family of five. They eventually sold the farm and moved to Everett in 1956.
Violet worked at Everett Book and Stationery store for two years then worked at JC Penney, retiring after 14 years. She enjoyed being creative in different crafts, music, bingo, playing cards with her best friend, Marinda Hatle and a mean game of Rummy.
Violet had an exceptional love of life, a big smile, a hearty laugh, and always had a kind word for everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn of 55 years; infant son, (Kenneth) Lyle; and second son, Garry Bailey.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth G. (Sandy) Bailey of Arlington, WA; daughters, LylaJean (Mace) Pecora of Boise, Idaho and Bonny L. (Charles) Kent of Santa Barbara, CA; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise View Retirement Villa for the abundance of love and exceptional care she received over the nine years she was a resident. They helped her adjust to her new home and feel welcome. We will always have a soft spot in our hearts for Sunrise View.
The family would also like to thank Providence Hospice & Home Care for the compassion and care given during Violet's final journey.
Violet's family invites you to join them in an afternoon of remembrance to be held at Sunrise View Retirement Villa, 2520 Madison St., Everett on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the dining room.
Once again, it's now about the emptiness that's left behind, the places once filled up by a life. We miss you so very much mom.

Violet and Glenn were good friends of my parents, Mel and Eileen. Mom and Violet remained close friends until Mom passed away. I was privileged to join in that friendship and experience first hand her big heart, sense of humor and lust for life, which is how I will always remember her.

Cheers, Violet!

I have known Violet for a few years and she was always happy with a lovely smile. I miss not seeing her every day. Days are a little bit darker now that she is no longer here at the Villa. Love, Antonette Liles
