W. Tom Miller
The sky is no limit for author, historian, artist, naturalist, and airplane lover, Tom Miller, who died of liver cancer. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Simpson College and the University of Iowa. During World War II, he served in the 88th Infantry in Italy. 
Tom worked for several aerospace companies before moving to Edmonds in 1967. He returned to school at the University of Washington for a Masters in Library Science and a Ph.D. in Education. He worked in the Kent School District until retirement.
Through his private firm, TranSlides, Tom maintained his professional interests. He continued his passion for airplanes by completing his collection of historical aircraft photographs which resides in the National Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian. He acquired a comprehensive toy airplane collection and wrote the authoritative book on cast iron toy planes, The Big Book of Airplane Toys. 
Tom became an expert carver of both wood and stone, and received several awards for his art. This author, photographer, golfer, and sculptor will be remembered for the love and inspiration he gave to his family and friends. 
He leaves his wife, Rowena; five children; three grandchildren; and lots of loving Millers.

Friends, new and old are invited to a "Remembering Party," from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., May 6, at his home in Edmonds.

Tom was so fun to have him and his 4 golfing buddies come in to Mulligans after playing a rough game. It was so fun and I will miss him being a part of that foursome. You as his wife should really be proud of him as he was a great person. He made my life a lot more fun, just knowing him the short time that I did. My best to you all
