William Marchand Obituary

William (Bill) Marchand was born to Maxine and Bill Marchand in Everett, Wash., August 1, 1944, and died September 13, 2016, in Winnipeg, Man. He is survived by wife, Barbara; daughter, Laurel Hopkins (Jim), son, Bill Marchand (Mary), stepson, Jamie Hopkins (Tracy), stepdaughter, Kerri Hopkins; grandchildren, Abby, Jimmy, Silas, Jack and Nick; sisters, Kandis Goetz (Chuck) and Cynthia MacKenzie (John); and numerous nieces and nephews as well as lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn and his parents. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. Bill graduated from Everett High School in 1962 and Seattle University in 1966. He owned and operated local businesses in Everett. While working for his dad at Marchand's Everett Camera, Bill became the team photographer for the Seattle Supersonics. When the Seahawks came to town he became the team photographer for them, as well as the Seattle Sounders. It was a sweet gig for an avid sports fan and Bill's natural charm and people skills served him well in that role and led to a career in sales and marketing in fields that spanned scholastic products to dry cleaning. Later in life he found the most joy and satisfaction being involved in his family's life, especially his five grandchildren. A week and half before he passed, Bill was able to watch grandson, Jimmy playing football at Everett Memorial Stadium, the same stadium that he and son, Billy had played in years before. There with camera in hand, he described it as one of the greatest joys of his life. Bill will always be remembered for his contagious smile, big personality, and sense of humor. He was the life of the party and a notorious prankster. He touched many lives with his warmth and kindness; once you met Bill you never forgot him. A Memorial service and celebration of life will be held October 15, 2015, at the Everett Golf and Country Club from 12:00–4:00 p.m.

I am so sorry for the passing of Bill. Barbara, Billy and Laurie,
Bill and I were friends from Madison Elem School through EHS class of '62. Baseball and football consumed our lives and we'd compare stories many times with the road trips that we had. Bill will be missed. May he RIP!!

Dearest Barbie, Billy, Laurel and the entire family,

Our hearts are completely broken over the loss of our dearest friend, Bill. I can't imagine what you, as a family, must be going thru. Dave & I had a special friendship with Bill, each in our own way. I will miss talking sports with him and our lively discussions about the "Young and the Restless". Dave will miss his genuine friendship, humor, and the "Guys Cabin Getaways". I know he is at the "Rainbow Bridge" with our "Maggie" and "Ellie" (just to name a few), playing with his famous "plastic dog poop". I'll never forget our daughter announcing that "Ellie" had pooped on the floor during a party at our house. I was mortified and Bill was on the ground laughing...as only Bill could do when he knew he'd pulled off good prank.

We love you all very much and we will stay in touch, because we know that Bill would want it that way.

All our love,
Dave & Jennifer Gans

My deepest condolences guys. He was one in a million, he taught me some valuable lessons about life, and most of all how important family is. He was always good for a laugh or an uncomfortable gesture. He is gone but never forgotten. I had the pleasure of attending the service in Winnipeg yesterday and was brought to tears a couple times just hearing the stories and how much he was looked up to and well respected.
