Zachary Owenby Obituary

Zachary Owenby, 39 years old, passed away suddenly on January 14, 2018 in Sydney Australia. Zach was born on February 1, 1978 in Everett, Washington to Marc and Oneita Owenby. He grew up and lived in Everett his entire childhood and graduated from Everett High School in 1996. Zach went on to attend Seattle Pacific University from 1996-1998. He worked for the Everett School District as one of their computer and IT technicians while living in Seattle and Lynnwood, WA, but decided to make a bold move to Phoenix in December of 1999. Zach worked for the University of Phoenix full time and earned his Batchelor of Science in Information Technology in 2009. Zach lived and worked in Phoenix for 17 years and loved Arizona. He had a way of making wherever he lived his home. Zachary always had a love for traveling and landed a IT consulting position with Cedar Crestone in Phoenix as their senior consultant. His love for flying, travel and technology was the perfect blend within his consulting career. Zach began flying weekly for work and made many trips around the world--many just for fun! His passport was always full and he was always planning his next adventure. Finally, in June of 2017, Zach made a life and career move to Sydney, Australia working for "Presence of IT". Zach's dream for many years was to live in Australia and what better place for him to spend his last days. Zach was a loving and loyal person who had friends and colleagues literally all over the world! He will forever be remembered and loved by his friends and family. Family was always so important to him even though his life would be full of travels, as he loved being home for the holidays. Zach is preceded in death by his mother, Oneita and is survived by his sister, Megan Bjazevich, brother-in law, Jason, his niece, Madison and nephew, Aiden, and lastly his father, Marc. Extended family was always close to him, leaving his maternal grandfather, Ernie Guthrie, aunt Linda and uncle Bob Martin, aunt D'Lynn and uncle Aaron Davis, uncles, Jay and Jim Guthrie plus all their children and Eastern Washington cousins, other family members and friends. "A memorial service, AKA celebration of life, will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Everett's First Baptist Church, 1616 Pacific Ave."

I was just thinking about Zach this week remembering his quirky travel agenda and how much he loved it.

He was connected with our family through his friendship with our daughter Beth and his "apprenticeship" with my husband Al. They were the behind the scenes producers of all things Audio-Visual for First Baptist Church worship services in Everett back in the 1990's. Al taught Zach that the best way to advance the power point slides on time was to sing along with the hymns. Well, neither of them could sing and their attempts amused the Senior Pastor who would hear them carrying on at their station backstage. They didn't care! They were proudly working. And no one ever complained the slides weren't perfectly timed with their system.

Zach was an enjoyable character in our family's life. I will not forget that he made a long journey to attend Al's memorial service in 2016. When I thanked him, he said. "Well of course I'd be here! Al was my mentor!" May their souls connect as they revel in the presence of their Savior in heaven!

Dear Owenbys,

I think of your family often and the many losses during a short period of time. Zach's very productive life in his short earthly residency should continue to make you proud. He was so respectful of Al during their work together at the church. I see them in my mind's eye now sharing soul-life high-fives as they cross paths in the smiling presence of their Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Have yourself some wonderful memories this and everyday!
Blessings to all! ~Ann

Marc, I read your sins obituary, and though I was amazed at the incredible life he led, my heart goes out to you. I am not sure how a parent goes on after such tremendous loss, but please know I am carrying you in my thoughts as you travel this next difficult journey.

Though I only had the opportunity to meet Zach one time I knew immediately what a bright, caring Man he was. He had a great teacher after all, his father Marc. I enjoyed the brief conversation we had that day. I know from stories Marc has told me over the years that yes indeed he truly loved his family and friends as this was obvious in his actions. RIP young man you will be always loved and missed by those who had the opportunity to know such a great spirit!

Marc, What a tribute to the life he lived you should be proud of the example you were which helped him dare to pursue his dreams.

Zach was an important part of the strong connection of the Owenbys and the Thomases for the last 2 decades. I hope your mentor Al has given you a good overview of the tech surprises heaven holds, Zach. How wonderful to know you and your dear mom and my dear friend Oneita are reunited and delighting in being in the presence of God.
Grateful to Him for your life! ~Ann Thomas
