Antonio J. Arruda

Antonio J. Arruda, 71, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, surrounded by his family at his home. He was the husband of forty-seven years to Gilda (Capela) Arruda. Antonio was born in Sao Miguel, Azores the son of the late August and Gloria (Ponte) Arruda. Mr. Arruda worked for Umbro & Sons Construction in Boston for over forty years retiring in 2010. He enjoyed taking cruises, traveling and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Survivors besides his wife are a daughter: Lisa A. Heon and her husband William of Somerset; a son: Antonio Arruda Jr of Somerset; three grandchildren: Aaron Cabral, Brandyn Cabral and Kylie Arruda and a great-granddaughter: Alexa Cabral; two sisters: Gabriela Fernandes of New Bedford; and Maria Dos Anjos Machado of Sao Miguel, Azores; along with several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 10am in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset.
