Jean C. Lyons, passed away peacefully Sunday am at home. She was the daughter of Ernest and Claire (Chace) Dorr of Somerset. Jean is survived by husband James Lyons, daughter Bethany and husband Matt Knoettner, and son Christopher and wife Stacy. She leaves one sister Ellen Marsh and her Husband Lee. Grandsons Connor Knoettner, Colin Lyons, Brady Knoettner and Chace Lyons. Jean was a graduate of Somerset High, R.I. College and earned a master's degree in education from Cambridge College. Jean taught in the Somerset School System, for over 30 years, mostly as an art teacher on the elementary level at Chace School and Wilbur School. A member of Congregational Christian Church, she was also a member of the Massachusetts Teacher's Association, the National Education Association and the Fall River Garden Club. Jean mostly loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandsons. She enjoyed attending their hockey, baseball, football and basketball games. She also enjoyed yearly trips to Ogunquit, Maine. Jean enjoyed a good scratch ticket and never had an unkind word for anyone. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who were so attentive to Jean during her time of need. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10:00am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 6:30PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Southcoast V.N.A., 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
