William Nuttall Obituary

William (Bill) F. Nuttall, 82, of Tiverton, formerly of Fall River, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017, at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay in Tiverton, following a lengthy illness. He was the brother of Chester (Ted) T. Nuttall Jr. of Wilkesboro, North Carolina. A lifelong resident of Fall River, Bill was the son of the late Chester T. and Emma F. (Tripp) Nuttall. After graduating from Durfee High School in 1954, he worked for the Fall River Department of Public Welfare for 34 years before retiring in 1990. Bill was a true New Englander. He enjoyed sharing stories of his travels throughout the area, but his favorite places were always those close to home: summering in Westport Point, taking in the view of the Sakonnet or gathering with neighbors, friends and family. Bill would tell you that he lived his life for his parents and to be good to others, and he will be remembered fondly for his thoughtful and generous nature and for his sense of humor and contagious laugh. He was well known and loved by all in the Highland neighborhood hed called home for most of his life, and not much happened there without him being in the know. For the past two years of his life, he lived at Brookdale Sakonnet Bay, where he made many new friends and was cared for with love and compassion. Bill was also a dedicated parishioner of Holy Name Church in Fall River and a longtime member of the Fall River Historical Society. Bill is survived by his brother Ted and Teds companion Laura Jeraldine Greene. He was affectionately known as Cousin Bill by his cousins and their families and is survived by Marie Boyd Landry of Tiverton, Ann Boyd Ivancie of Denver, Colorado, Ellen Boyd of Midlothian, Virginia, and their families, as well the family of the late William J. Boyd. Calling Hours for Bill will be held on Saturday morning December 30, 2017 from 8:30am to 9:30am in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson Street, Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in St. Patricks Cemetery Fall River. Bill was an integral part of a very close neighborhood! Growing up on Woodlawn St., I remember him as a very friendly, kind, compassionate man who was always willing to converse with someone, especially on a nice summer night. I'm sure he will be missed by many.

Rest in peace Bill,

A dear, kind gentleman with a memorable chuckle. He had a gift for humility, and when he listened so attentively to you, it made you feel important especially if you knew him as a child, which I did. Bill will certainly be missed.
