Alcolu, South Carolina - Ann Campbell Tennant, 88, widow of Dr. John Boyd Tennant, Jr., died Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at her home. Born November 5, 1934 in Rock Hill, Ann was a daughter of the late Samuel Watson Campbell and the late Lila Lee Campbell. She was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Winthrop College. Ann was a retired elementary school teacher. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and attended New Harmony Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four daughters, Lila Davis Cameron (Wyly) of Rock Hill, Lee Ann Davis Smith (David) of Brentwood, TN, Shannon Gibbs Gasaway (Dan) of Homer, GA and Carol Gibbs Crochet (Ken) of Decatur, GA; a son, Charles Mitchell Gibbs III (Kendra) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Larissa Greer (Greg), Benjamin Cameron, Justin Smith, Kathryn Smith (Rafa Tudela), Carson Crochet, Clayton Crochet, Campbell Gibbs, Jacob Gibbs and Cooper Gibbs; a sister, June Dawson (Bill) of Mt. Pleasant; a stepdaughter, Mary Tennant Bleasdale (Ralph) of Alcolu; a stepson, John Boyd Tennant III (Linda) of Fort Mill; five step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, A.J. Davis and Charles Mitchell Gibbs, Jr.; and three siblings, Betty Ross, Doris Tate and Lynn Campbell. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at New Harmony Presbyterian Church in Alcolu. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
