Rock Hill, South Carolina - Mr. Christopher Greene, 71, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Rev. Barry Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery. The service will also be live-streamed at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
Born in St. Helens, England, Mr. Greene was the son of the late William M. Greene and the late Jannes Wilson Greene. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Rachel Michelle Greene and Monese Elizabeth Greene; his brother, Ricky Greene; and his mother-in-law, Janie Parker Broome.
Christopher Greene was a man loved by many. He returned that love by serving his country in the Vietnam Era in the Marine Corps (Third Battalion, platoon 383). Chris then retired from the postal service after 31 years. Not only did he love his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his world, he also loved God almighty by ministering through his singing with a blessed voice like Elvis. He also served proudly as a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church. Pawpaw's smile, laughter, and joy in making others laugh will carry on for generations to come with warm memories in the heart.
Surviving are Chris's sweetheart of 52 years, Rachel Parker Greene; his daughters, Christie S. (Chris) Greene Alley and Tina L. (Douglas) Greene Shirley; five grandchildren, Kaitlin (Kris), Alex (Morgan), Tailer, Christian and Jade; his great-granddaughter, Everly Grace; his brother, William M. (Jane) Greene; and three sisters, Marcia Greene (Jimmy) Shultz, Connie Greene and his very special sister, Judy Parker.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Greene's name to the American Legion, Post 34, PO Box 2745 CRS, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
