Chester, South Carolina - Our beloved, Gladys Jean Woods was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday January 6, 2022. She gained her wings and bid farewell to her family and friends and this earthly life. Gladys was born in Fairfield County South Carolina on March 19, 1943, daughter of the late Willie James Woods and Mary Ramsey Woods. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday January 13, 2022 at 11: am at the Chapel of King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery Street, Chester, SC with Pastor Donald Woodard, officiating, Pastor Cliff Dye, eulogist. Burial will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens, Chester, SC. Gladys was a member of Purity Baptist Church where she formerly served as the Church Secretary. Gladys located to New York City and united with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She relocated back to South Carolina and united with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rock Hill, SC. Gladys was a graduate of Finley Senior High School. She was employed by Leno Hill Hospital in New York as a Registered Nurse and retired in 2005. Gladys was a phenomenal lady. We will remember her by the love and memories she left in our hearts. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Willie James Woods and Mary Ramsey Woods, siblings, Atline Woods, Mary F. Woods Feaster, Louise Woods Davis, Issacc Woods, James Woods, William Woods, Adell Woods Thompson and Edward Woods. Gladys was formerly married to Robert Whetstone. Gladys leaves her legacy of life and love to her family, her loving and devoted children, Kevin Whetstone and Shawn Whetstone, two sisters, Martha Woods and Arletha Woods, grandchildren, De'Andre Whetstone, Peter Craig Whetstone, Nyree Gardner Whetstone, Tyree Gardner Whetstone, Kevin D. Jr. Whetstone, Avion Gardner Whetstone and Alisa, great-grandchildren, Zayden and Dajah Whetstone, one of her favorite nephews, Bernard (Ivy) Thompson, one of her favorite niece, Martha Ann (Pastor Donald) Woodard, great nephew, Rev. Charles Woods, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends.
