Iva Arnold Obituary
FORT MILL - Mrs. Iva Brown Arnold, 60, of Fort Mill, S.C., died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Riley officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
Born in Hemingway, S.C., Mrs. Arnold was a daughter of the late James Ely Brown and Vermelle Gaskins Brown Stuckey. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Winthrop University. Mrs. Arnold was retired from Chester County Schools and continued her teaching career at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, where she was named Teacher of the Year at Lincoln Heights Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in a Bible study group with her friends. Mrs. Arnold was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making baskets and other crafts and being with her family and friends. She dearly loved teaching and her students but her greatest love was her two children.
Surviving are her daughter, Amy Arnold of Fort Mill; her son, Calvin Arnold of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her brother, James Arnold Brown of Johnsonville, S.C.; her sister, Elizabeth Brown Henry of East Lansing, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Joanne Arnold Mack. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, James Thomas "Jim" Arnold (2000).
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Wolfe Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Amy Arnold, 406 Unity Street, Fort Mill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 179 Columbia St., Chester, SC 29706.

Amy & Calvin... God truly blessed you both with awesome parents.. I loved your Mom so much and I'm so thankful that she was in my life's path..Her journey has just begun and I know that she is totally healed now and having an awesome time in Heaven. What a sweet, sweet lady she was and an awesome example of Grace. May God give you comfort and a peace that only He can give. I love you both.

Amy and Calvin, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom I met Iva at chemo and what a blessing it was to have known her. She gave everyone around her laughter,inspiration and hope my sister and I could hardly wait untill thursday (our thursday chemo group} to see and talk to her. She will missed by the many people she came into contac with. May God bless each of you and give you peace in this sad time.

Arnold and Family,I was very sad to hear of Iva's passing.She had the gift of laughter and compassion that was like a magnet to everyone. She shared happiness with everyone she was in contact with.Iva was one of God's children for sure and now with her family in heaven.

I worked with Iva in Chester. She was one of the few people who knew where Nesmith, SC is - that is where I am from. Her mom and my mom were friends. I am sorry for your loss.

Jay contacted me to let me know about your mom. I do not know if you know this, but we met each other our freshman year at Winthrop, and connected immediately. Amy and Calvin. I have been saddened to learn of your mom's passing. She was one of my first playmates at the church nursery at Indiantown. Even as a child she was such a kind and gentle person. She was so pround of her family and expressed those feelings when we communicated over the years. I will always remember her and miss her.

Amy,Calvin, Arnold, and Elizabeth, I am so sad that Iva is not here with us, but so happy for her that she is in heaven with Mrs. Vermelle, Cousin Ely and my parents, Pearless and Dewelyn. I bet they are all having a joyous time together. I remember so well hearing them all laughing and talking while we cousins were all around the house and yard playing together. I love the memories.
