John Cook Obituary
A native of Rock Hill, SC, he attended Newberry College where he received a Bachelors degree in Communications. Nathan received a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Hollins University. He spent time as an employee of the Cartoon Network.
Nathan was a committed reference librarian of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. He was a talented writer, a lover of music, and an avid reader of history and politics.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Cook; brother, Rafe Cook (Kimberly), and two nieces, Harlowe and Hayworth. Nathan was preceded in death by his father, John Cook.
A celebration of Nathan's life will be held on Sunday, November 18 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC with visitation at 5:00 pm and service following at 6:00 pm. David Coffman is officiating.
Memorial donations in memory of Nathan can be made to Time Out Youth, 3800 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC, 28205 or Humane Society of York County 8177 Regent Parkway Ste 103, Ft Mill, SC, 29715.

Nathan was a grad student during my sophomore year at Hollins, and I'll always remember his sweet, wise, vulnerable soul. I still treasure an amazing CD of gorgeous songs he compiled for me towards the end of that year, and I loved communicating with him since that time. Nathan was such a special person, and he obviously gave his big heart to the world. My sympathy goes out to his family and all else who loved him. I'm so very sorry to learn of this huge loss.
