July 20, 1936 - August 7, 2023
Fort Mill, South Carolina - Michael Rufus Hunsucker, 87, passed away Monday August 7, 2023. Born in Cleveland County on July 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Oswald Rufus Hunsucker and Evelyn Sisk Hunsucker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life, Suzanne McSwain Hunsucker. Mike retired from Celanese as a Senior Chemist in R&D. It is his commitment to his wife and family that will be forever cherished
Mike is survived by his son, Shawn Hunsucker of Rock Hill, SC; two daughters, Julie Sturgis and husband Terry of Rock Hill, SC and Leesa Kane and husband Tim of Fort Mill, SC. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother, Tim Hunsucker wife Glenda, seven grandchildren, Brandi Denton, Shelley Weatherly and husband Jordan, John Bruton, Carley Dixon and husband Jay, Meaghan Kane and husband Chris, Nikki Kane, Tiffany Blakley and husband Justin; seven great grandchildren, Michael Parrish, Christen Kane, Reece Kane, Trystan Kane, Sage Kane, Bethany Blakley, Jaxon Blakely, Adyson, Anderson, as well as one great great grandchild, Stella Rose Meade.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday August 11, 2023 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home in Shelby, NC with Dr. Joe Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
