Miriam White Obituary

Midge WhiteROCK HILL - Miriam Buice "Midge" White, 95, passed away May 19. 2014, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. White was born to Robert Wells and Minnie Fowler Buice on Sept. 17, 1918, in Hickory Grove, S.C. She graduated from Limestone College and later earned a Master's Degree from Winthrop College. Mrs. White was a dedicated educator who taught American History in the Rock Hill school system for 33 years. She loved her subject and adored all of her students. After retiring from teaching, Mrs. White owned and operated The Country House along with her husband, Jack. Mrs. White was a member of First Presbyterian Church and former member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. White; her sister, Marge Jackson Woods; her brother, Robert Buice; and her grandson, Tello Vasquez. "Midge" will be remembered by family and friends for her grace, charm and the ever-present smile on her face. She welcomed all into her home with bountiful meals and old-fashioned hospitality. Survivors include her daughter, Wendy Blanchard (Butch); sons, Wells White (Pam) and Wayne White; granddaughter, Lacy Ngo (Chad); great-grandchildren, Hilt and Neeshie Ngo; and sisters, Kay Adams and Minnie Anderson. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday May 22, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 23, at Forest Hills Cemetery, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Mrs. White may be sent to the Tello Vasquez Citadel Memorial Scholarship, the First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill, or the Cemetery Fund for Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove, S.C. Condolences may be made at www.greenefuneralhome.net.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a special lady and always had such a positive outlook on life. I don't think I ever heard her talk negative about anyone. She had such an positive influence on my life. She will be missed. I hope to see you Friday.
