Rick White Obituary

Rick White ROCK HILL - Richard "Rick" Dean White, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Associated Reformed Church, with Dr. Boyce Wilson and Dr. Mel Wines officiating. The family will receive friends in the Bailey Activity Center following the service. Rick was a son of the late William Oscar and Odessa McManus White. He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Associated Reformed Church and he retired from Thomas Concrete as a salesman. Rick played for the York Green Dragon football team, attended Gardner Webb University, St. Francis Xavier University and was also a member of the York County Crescent Shrine Club. Rick was a life-long Gamecock fan, and he was in the Beach Music Hall of Fame as being a saxophone player with the "Tempest" group. He is survived by wife, Myra Hope White of Rock Hill; son, Jeremy White of Rock Hill; sister, Peggy White Greening of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Bill White. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Presbyterian Associated Reformed Church, 2132 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732. Myra thank you for calling & letting us know about Rick. I really still can't believe he's gone. I've known Rick for many years & I feel like I know you & Jeremy both as he's always mentioned the two of you every time I saw him. I will keep both of you in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. You don't know me but I grew up with Richard, as we called him. My mom and dad were good friends with Oscar and Odessa. I also worked around Oscar for a few years and was associated with him at Central Baptist. I was just thinking of Oscar the other day, wishing I could hear the quartet that he sang in again. Richard was a great Green Dragon player and a good friend when we were young. After we all grew up, we parted ways. But the memories are still alive in our hearts. I know it has to be hard for you but God Bless and prayers for your family.
